Scene 1:
Place: Deserted island off of the North Carolina coast - Atlantic Ocean.
Location: The cave.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: Simon --
>> Simon: Hmm? [Simon kisses her]
>> Lily: What was that?
>> Simon: The beginning.

Scene 2:
Location: The cave.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: It was a kiss.
>> Simon: Are you positive?
>> Lily: No, I must have been dreaming. Oh, no, no, no. It was a kiss, wasn't it?
>> Simon: Uh-huh.
>> Lily: Why'd you do it?
>> Simon: No particular reason. Just trying to seduce the rich girl of a very prominent Oakdale family.
>> Lily: Okay. Just cut it out.

Scene 3:
Location: The cave.

SIMON FRASIER AND LILY WALSH SNYDER

>> Simon: You slapped me.
>> Lily: Did it hurt?
>> Simon: Yes.
>> Lily: I'm sorry.
> >Simon: Lily?
>> Lily: Hmm?
>> Simon: Why'd you slap me?
>> Lily: Because you wouldn't stop kissing me.
>> Simon: I'm sorry.
>> Lily: It's okay.
>> Simon: You know, I'm not really sorry.
>> Lily: No. No, no, no. Please. I'll slap you again. I'll slap you harder this time.
>> Simon: I don't care. You can hit me as hard as you want a thousand times, it's not gonna change the way I feel about you.
>> Lily: Don't! Please don't say it.
>> Simon: Why not?
>> Lily: I'm gonna go get some mangoes and berries. I'll come back in a couple hours. All right?
>> Simon: You know, don't you? That's why I don't have to say anything, 'cause you already know.
>> Lily: I can't -- no, I don't know anything.
>> Simon: How long? Tell me, how long have you known for?
>> Lily: I don't know anything. I don't want to know anything.
>>Simon: Tell me!
>> Lily: Tell you what? Tell you what you want? Tell you what you feel? This is -- we're stuck here on this island. And it's been a very long time. This is about you being alone. This is not about me.
>> Simon: Oh, come on. This is all about you. And it's right. I have never felt anything so -- so right.
>> Lily: Don't complicate things. We're friends. We're friends. We're fellow castaways.
>> Simon: Oh, no, no, no. We are more than friends.
>> Lily: No, we're not.
>> Simon: Come on. Don't you see that this all makes sense? Everything that we've been through. The way we've been thrown together.
>> Lily: Forced together.
>> Simon: No, no, meant to be together, Lily. It is just that simple.
>> Lily: No, it's not. Not for me. I can't. I can't talk about this.
>> Simon: Well, you see, that's the thing. You don't have to say a thing. 'Cause I can do enough talking for the both of us.
>> Lily: Simon --
>> Simon: You know, I've got so much to say. I have been swallowing it for so long that I am choking on it.
>> Lily: I can't -- I can't do this.
>> Simon: Don't run out on me. I have been -- I've been strong for you. I just need you here now to hear this.
>> Lily: Once you say it -- Simon, once you say it you can't take it back. We could be stuck here for years. Everything's gonna be different.
>> Simon: My feelings aren't gonna change. So what difference does it make if I say it?
>> Lily: Then I'm gonna know. Then I'll know.
>> Simon: My feelings, my responsibility, is that it? So -- so if you know, then we're just going to continue to exist the way we've been as if nothing's changed?
>> Lily: Please don't be angry.
>> Simon: I can't do it. I would lay down my life for you. But I cannot go another 20 years, another 20 seconds here without telling you exactly how I feel. So if you want to run, go. Run. I am deeply, and I am sorry, regrettably, madly in love with you.

Scene 4:
Location: The cave.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: I wish we had never found that stuff. It's ruined everything.
>> Simon: Look, that bug juice has got nothing to do with what I just said.
>> Lily: Simon, you don't love me. Because we're just friends. You're a normal healthy guy who's stuck here on this island. I'm the only woman for god knows how long -- far away. We got drunk. Our inhibitions were --
>> Simon: Look, I'm not a teenage boy, Lily. I think I know the difference between love and lust. I'm not drunk now. And I do -- I love you. All right?
>> Lily: Look -- a few weeks ago, you were ready to abandon me here because you thought I had the diamond!
>> Simon: Oh, look, I never would have left you here. I would never --
>> Lily: You did a wonderful act. Tell me, when did this love start? Yesterday? Today? When?
>> Simon: You opened a door -- your hair was tied back. You were wearing a bandanna. It was blue and white. You had a smudge right here.
>> Lily: You were looking for Beloved. That's why you remember everything. You're in love with her. You're in love with a myth. You're not in love with me.
>> Simon: You think I'm in love with some photograph? With a woman that's been dead for nearly a century? Then why is it you that I dream of? Your smile. Your touch. Your laugh. Your temper.
>> Lily: Stop!
>> Simon: Your wit. Your eyes. Your skin.
>> Lily: Stop!
>> Simon: It's you that's haunting me. And when I'm not dreaming about you, you're keeping me awake.
>> Lily: How many times have you said that to how many women? I'm just another one of them. Don't try to make me believe something that isn't true. Look, we got stuck here on this island. And it's been awful and you've been incredible. But once we get back to civilization you won't remember me. You'll find somebody else.
>> Simon: Is that an order? You want me to take everything that I feel -- all this passion that I feel for you and lay it at the feet of some other woman?
>> Lily: I'm not saying that it's going to be something you'll be forced to do. It will just happen. It's inevitable.
>> Simon: I don't want to find anyone else. And I don't think you, with all your resolve, want me out there looking. You're not interchangeable. I was meant to find you.
>> Lily: Don't start talking about fate.
>> Simon: Then look me in the eyes and tell me that you don't believe in fate. That we're not here for some reason. That we're meant to be together.
>> Lily: You just have to stop it, because I'm a married woman.
>> Simon: I want the truth. The truth. You owe me -- I want the truth from you this time. I just need to know how you feel. Now, you may not want me the way I want you, but at least tell -
>> Lily: I do! I do want you. I do.

Scene 5:
Location: The cave.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: Look, we have to -- we have to calm down. These are just impulses. They don't mean anything.
>> Simon: No, please don't reduce this to some "impulse." This has been building in us for weeks, for months, and not just in me. I have felt your eyes on me. I have felt all the things that you couldn't say.
>> Lily: Wanting someone and loving someone, it's two different things. I've been here alone, too, and what normal woman wouldn't watch you as you go off to go spear-fishing? And appreciate how competent you are? How kind and how generous? Stop. We cannot take this any further.
>> Simon: You're here, I'm here. We share the same feelings.
>> Lily: We can't.
>> Simon: Why not?

Scene 6:
Location: The cave.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: You call it love, lust, fate. Whatever you want to call it, it's still wrong.
>> Simon: Lily, we could be here forever.
>> Lily: No one would ever know what happened between us. Look, maybe you think that I'm crazy to not want to live whatever years I have left here as happily as possible.
>> Simon: Okay, when you ripped up those pictures of Rose and Holden, what did that mean?
>> Lily: I was trying to stop obsessing about them. Now look, this may seem crazy to you that I even want to think about a life that I may never have again. But when Holden and I found each other again, I made a promise to myself that I would make this marriage last. I wanted to be that kind of person that can make her marriage last. Don't you understand that?
>> Simon: How could I not? Everything you're saying -- that's what made me love you in the first place.
>> Lily: So where do we go from here?
>> Simon: Back --
>> Lily: Can we do that?
>> Simon: Can I do that, that's what you mean? I never wanted to cause you any pain, or have you wonder if you're ever doing the wrong thing. I would rather jump off that cliff than ever have you hate me someday.
>> Lily: Can you forget what happened here today?
>> Simon: I don't want to forget. I want to remember that we told each other the truth, and then we decided to do something else. That we decided to remain friends.
>> Lily: Friends. Oh, I'm sorry.
>> Simon: It's okay.
>> Lily: We'd just regret it. We'd feel selfish. And then if someone did rescue us -
>> Simon: Look, you have nothing to worry about. I won't speak of it again.
>> Lily: Promise?
>> Simon: I'm going to let you go, Lily. But --
>> Lily: What?
>> Simon: I'll just kiss you one last time.
>> Lily: Simon, don't.

Scene 7:
Location: The cave.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER AND HOLDEN SNYDER

[Lily and Simon are making out on the floor when Holden walks in.]
>> Holden: Lily?
