Scene 1:
Location: Lakeview Towers Hotel
Scene: Hotel Lounge
SIMON FRASIER, KATIE FRASIER, HENRY COLEMAN, BARTENDER
>> Simon: Yes, I find Henry a little aggravating. But now that he's partners with us in this detective agency, I'm gonna have to learn to live with him.
>> Katie: Well, you can try, but no one's ever succeeded.
>> Bartender: What can I get you folks to drink?
>> Simon: Do you want -- no, nothing. We're fine. We're gonna order dinner any second now.
>> Bartender: It's on the house.
>> Katie: What's the occasion?
>> Bartender: Some big shot's buying rounds for everyone.
Scene 2
Scene: Hotel Lounge
SIMON FRASIER, KATIE FRASIER, HENRY COLEMAN
>> Simon: Nice threads, Henry. Very -- what do you reckon? -- Fall 2001.
>> Henry: Oh, you like it, kid? I'll get you one.
>> Simon: No, I think I'll give my stylist one more chance.
>> Katie: And I have to say, it's very generous of you to be buying drinks for all the people in this lounge. What's going on?
>> Henry: Yeah, how're you doing? Well, you know, I -- I find philanthropy very rewarding, Katie. I don't want to make a habit of it, but for one day, it's not too bad.
>> Simon: Where did you get the cash, Henry?
>> Henry: Our first client.
>> Katie: We have a client? When did that happen?
>> Henry: Well, let's see, I think it was when you were busy criticizing my name for our little company and our logo. I think I was out busy getting our first client, who not only paid us well, paid us in cash.
>> Simon: All right, what did you have to do to get that money? Oh, maybe I don't want to know.
>> Henry: It's already done. Case closed. The bar's open.
>> Katie: Wait, hold on a second. Is this client that woman that you met here at the bar last night?
>> Henry: Very astute, Katie. Your powers of observation are matched only by your unrelieved perkiness.
>> Katie: And your talent for attracting trouble is just as annoying as it always was.
>> Henry: Meaning what?
>> Katie: Meaning that woman happens to be Rosanna Cabot.
>> Henry: Of Cabot Motors, one of the wealthiest women the Midwest. I recognized her, guys. You underestimate me.
>> Simon: You don't know the half of it.
>> Katie: What you didn't realize, though, is that Rosanna is my brother's girlfriend.
>> Henry: I don't want to date her, Katie. I just want to tap that vein and draw off some of that money.
Scene 3:
Scene: Hotel Lounge
SIMON FRASIER, KATIE FRASIER, HENRY COLEMAN
>> Katie: Did Rosanna's job have anything to do with my brother or my niece or Carly Tenney?
>> Simon: Specifics, Henry? Details -- give us all the details, even those little parts you always leave out.
>> Henry: Now, look, this sounds suspiciously like you two don't trust me.
>> Simon: No?
>> Katie: Your point?
>> Henry: I thought this was a partnership. Not one for two and two against one.
>> Simon: Rosanna's job?
>> Henry: I -- well, she asked me to look into some stock that her broker was considering buying. And I did some covert investigation and found out that it was a loser. I saved her some money. She was very appreciative.
>> Simon: Oh, right. Very covert. What was the name of the stock?
>> Henry: Wiggington Electric and Water and Gas.
>> Simon: Yeah, right.
>> Katie: We're not buying it.
>> Simon: We're not buying that at all.
>> Henry: Okay, good. The point is, Katie, it has nothing to do with your family. And that's all that's important to you, right?
>> Katie: How do you know that? She could be setting you up. This time it's about stocks, the next time it's about Craig.
>> Simon: Which means we don't do business with her.
>> Henry: Guys, she's a gazillionaire. She has gazillionaire friends. I mean, if we get in with her, we can be retired in six weeks.
>> Katie: We can be successful without her. From now on, Rosanna Cabot is off limits.
Scene 4:
Scene: Hotel Lounge
SIMON FRASIER, KATIE FRASIER, HENRY COLEMAN
>> Katie: Henry, the first rule of our agency is that we don't get involved with our families. If you can't abide by that, then we're gonna have to toss you back to Lucinda.
>> Henry: She is not family, she's a girlfriend. And from what I understand about Craig, she'll be a stranger by next week.
>> Katie: Be that as it may, that's the deal. Take it or leave it.
>> Henry: All right, all right. Okay, all right. There's plenty of other rich people in the world, your brother can't know all of them.
>> Katie: Good.
>> Simon: Good.
>> Katie: I'm glad we understand each other.
>> Henry: Good. There's one thing you gotta do for me.
>> Simon: No, no -- Henry, come on. Cut us a -- no.
>> Henry: Yes. Just sign off on this.
>> Simon: What is it?
>> Henry: Sign off on my name for the company, please?
>> Simon: No -- no way.
>> Katie: "Early Bird Surveillance," it is.
>> Henry: Thank you. And the logo?
>> Simon: The logo? You've got the name, the logo? The little bird with the --
>> Henry: Yes.
>> Simon: Fine, whatever. Done.
>> Henry: Good. You think I can get any of these people to kick in for all the drinks I bought?
>> Simon: Somehow, I think shots aren't refundable, henry.
>> Henry: Hey, can the company --
>> Simon: No.
>> Henry: Company can't reimburse --
>> Simon: Zero chance.
>> Henry: All right. I'll just go return that silk underwear.
>> Katie: Oh, my god.
>> Simon: Oh, he's gonna kill me.
>> Katie: All right, you didn't believe his little story about the --
>> Simon: About the stock?
>> Katie: About the stocks and Rosanna? Okay.
>> Simon: Not for a second.
>> Katie: Me, either. C'mon.
>> Simon: Oh, where are we going? Can't we just go home?
>> Katie: We're going to warn my brother that his girlfriend may be scheming against him.
Scene 5:
Scene: Craig Montgomery's Suite
SIMON FRASIER, KATIE FRASIER, CRAIG MONTGOMERY, ROSANNA CABOT
>> Katie: Knock-knock.
>> Craig: Hey, katie. Simon, Katie, good as new.
>> Katie: Oh, well, not quite, but I'm getting there. Hey, listen. You must have lost directions to the cottage, 'cause I would have liked to see you while I was recuperating.
>> Craig: I kept up, but you know me. One thing leads to another.
>> Simon: Yeah, and then you found something better to do.
>> Craig: All right, let me introduce you to Rosanna Cabot. My sister Katie, her husband, Simon.
>> Rosanna: Oh, hello. How lovely to meet you. I've heard so much about you.
>> Katie: You, too. Quite recently, actually.
>> Rosanna: Really? From whom?
>> Katie: Henry Coleman. He claims you paid him a lot of money to do a little errand.
Scene 6:
Scene: Craig Montgomery's Suite
SIMON FRASIER, KATIE FRASIER, CRAIG MONTGOMERY, ROSANNA CABOT
>> Craig: You gave money to Henry Coleman? Why not just throw it off the back of a train?
>> Rosanna: It's a long story, my darling. One I'd rather not go into right now.
>> Katie: Oh, then I'll do it for you. Rosanna hired Henry as a private investigator. We asked him what he was doing for her, and he wouldn't tell us.
>> Rosanna: And why is this any business of yours?
>> Katie: Whatever Henry did for you obviously concerns my brother.
>> Craig: Rosanna, care to differ?
>> Rosanna: Well, like I told you earlier, Henry came looking for a job. Well, I asked him to do me a little favor. He did it. I paid him.
>> Katie: So, it didn't concern anyone in my family?
>> Rosanna: No.
>> Katie: And you weren't checking up on Craig?
>> Rosanna: No. She's very protective, isn't she?
>> Craig: Yes, you didn't know pit bulls came in blonde. Thank you for looking out for my interests.
>> Katie: Well, someone has to do it.
>> Craig: And there's someone, actually, in the other room who could use your help. She's in there crying her eyes out over --
>> Katie: Oh, no -- Aaron?
>> Craig: Yeah.
>> Katie: We should go talk to her.
>> Simon: Fine.
>> Craig: Thank you.
>> Simon: It was nice to meet you.
>> Rosanna: Lovely.
>> Simon: Yeah.
[ Simon and Katie exit to look for Lucy. ]
>> Craig: I'm flattered.
>> Rosanna: By what?
>> Craig: That you would go to such lengths to assure that i was honoring the Carly clause. I take it Henry gave you a positive report.
>> Rosanna: His findings were extremely positive. Yes. If you want a little more of that, I'll be in my room -- if you want me.
>> Craig: I do.
>> Rosanna: Keep it safe.
[ Rosanna laughs and leaves. ]
>> Katie: Lucy's not in her room -- and she's not in our old room, either.
>> Craig: Oh, she ran away to be with Aaron! Call me if anything happens.
>> Katie: Oh, wait -- we should go with him, maybe.
>> Simon: No, no, no -- no, Katie, we are going home. Please, now.
>> Katie: But Lucy could be in trouble.
>> Simon: No, it's none of our business. Honey, let's just go home, please.
>> Katie: Can we just stay here for a little while? Let's just wait until Craig calls. I just wanna make sure. He seemed really upset. Please?
>> Simon: Fine, yeah, that's cool. If that's what you wanna do. I just want to spend some time together.
>> Katie: So we'll do it here.
