Scene 1:
Location: Sparky's garage in Milltown.

LILY WALSH SNYDER ALONE.

[Thunder rolls.]
>> Lily: Simon? Simon?

SIMON FRASIER ROLLS OUT FROM UNDER A CAR.

[Thunder rolls.]
>> Lily: Simon? Aren't you gonna get up?
>> Simon: Are you kidding me? I feel like a kid lying in the grass looking up at heaven.
>> Lily: Simon?
>> Simon: Ah, and the angel just smiled. I'd pretty much given up on ever seeing that again.
>> Lily: Oh, ye of little faith.
>> Simon: Actually, I've been living on nothing but.
>> Lily: What do you mean?
>> Simon: The last time we spoke, you said you were gonna work things out with Holden. Another man might have packed it in, but I didn't. I knew you'd be back -- 'cause I knew you would change your mind.

Scene 2:
Location: Sparky's garage in Milltown.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: You were sure that I would change my mind?
>> Simon: Yeah. It's not like it hasn't happened before.
>> Lily: Fair enough. I guess you've come to expect inconsistency from me. I bet you didn't expect my family to make things worse.
>> Simon: Forget about them. Okay? I do not care what your mother thinks of about me.
>> Lily: I know my mother offered you a bribe. And I let her know how unhappy I was about that.
>> Simon: But, Lily, I can fight my own battles. I'm a big boy. I can handle your mother. Now, if you had thought that I could take that money, now that -- that would have hurt.
>> Lily: I wouldn't have blamed you if you had.
>> Simon: What? What, you think I'd take some bribe to get out of your life?
>> Lily: No. I'm just sorry that you got caught up in it.
>> Simon: I'm not. I'm not at all. You found something in me that I thought had died a long time ago. And you made it breathe again. You don't owe me any -- any apologies.
>> Lily: I owe you, I owe you much, much more, much more. I'm not sorry about the bribe, I'm not apologizing for that. I'm apologizing for giving you a reason not to take it.
>> Simon: What are you saying?
>> Lily: That you should go -- that you should leave town and not in your head or your heart, ever, ever look back.

Scene 3:
Location: Sparky's garage in Milltown.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Simon: I don't get it, Lily. I just don't get it. The last time I tried to leave Oakdale, you stopped -- you stopped me at the airport. You said that I was the only one who really knew you. Do you remember that?
>> Lily: Yes. I shouldn't have said that. I wasn't thinking.
>> Simon: Yes, yes, you were. For one brief moment, you were thinking about yourself -- what was best for you, not what's best for your mother or anyone else.
>> Lily: I'm not doing it for her.
>> Simon: Who then? Holden?
>> Lily: No, for this. When I look at this, I see Holden reading to the children. I see us dancing and talking and fighting and going to PTA meetings together and all the other mundane stuff in between. And then, I look out the window, and I see you and everything we've shared together, everything that we've meant to each other. And this starts feeling like a handcuff. That's why you have to go. So I can get back to my marriage and the way I remember it.
>> Simon: Maybe I shouldn't be saying this, Lily, but if your marriage was ever as strong as you think, I wouldn't be a problem.
>> Lily: Just go. Please tell me that you'll go.
>> Simon: I don't wanna cause you any pain. So, okay, I'll go -- on one condition -- Lily, that you swear to me that you -- that you feel nothing for me, nothing at all.
>> Lily: I swear.
>> Simon: No, look at me. Look me in the eyes, look me in the face. Tell me that you don't feel anything.

Scene 4:
Location: Sparky's garage in Milltown.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Simon: That's all you have to do, Lily. Tell me that there is nothing between us, that you're not feeling the same thing that I am. And I'll get on a plane. I'll get out of here. And you'll never hear from me again.
>> Lily: Don't do this. Please.
>> Simon: Tell me, Lily, tell me. Tell me that you never want us to feel this close ever again.
>> Lily: I can't. I can't keep doing this. I can't keep going back and forth between you and Holden.
>> Simon: Yeah, and I can't make this easy for you either. How am I -- how am I supposed to go when I know there's still a chance?
>> Lily: There's no -- there's no chance. Holden and I are committed to our marriage.
>> Simon: Yeah? Then why did your mother offer me a bribe, huh? Because she knows what you were denying. Yeah, that there's trouble in paradise.
>> Lily: No. No.
>> Simon: Then you tell me to go. And I will. But only if it is your decision, not -- not mine or not your mothers. But yours.
>> Lily: All right. I want you to go. I want you to go. I'm going -- I'm going to Craig Montgomery's party tonight with Holden. And when I walk in that door, everybody's going to know my choice.
>> Simon: Yeah. You know, they can believe what they want, because I know the truth. Lily, I know that when all the dancing's over and that when everyone's asleep, you'll be lying in your bed. And I'll be lying in mine. And we will both be awake looking out the window across everything that separates us right into each other's eyes.
>> Lily: I --
>> Simon: You what, Lily?
>> Lily: I care about you.
>> Simon: "Care"? You care about me?
>> Lily: Holden is my husband. He's my family.
>> Simon: Yeah, and I understand that. It is right to feel some loyalty. But, Lily, don't mistake a sense of obligation for passion.
>> Lily: I'm not. No, I know. I know what passion is. I've had it with Holden. I have it now. We're together. The two of us are together in every way that two people can be.

Scene 5:
Location: Sparky's garage in Milltown.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Simon: I thought Holden and you were still living apart.
>> Lily: We are. But he came over and things just --
>> Simon: You know, I really don't need to hear this.
>> Lily: I didn't come over here to tell you that. Believe me.
>> Simon: It doesn't matter. Nothing matters. So you slept with Holden and everything's great again, yeah? Congratulations! And you can't, can you, Lily? 'Cause when you were kissing Holden, you can't tell me that you weren't thinking about kissing me. That when you were lying in his arms, that you never thought about us.
>> Lily: No.
>> Simon: Do you imagine -- do you imagine what could -- no, no. What would have happened if Holden hadn't found us?
>> Lily: No, no, I never think about that.
>> Simon: What, never? Never? Then why are you here? Why can't we stop looking at each other?
[Thunder rumbles.]
>> Lily: I came here to say good-bye. And I'm saying good-bye. I -- I've gotta go.
>> Simon: I'm not stopping you from going. Leave.
>> Lily: I'm going.
>> Simon: I've got you.
>> Lily: I know.

Scene 6:
Location: Sparky's garage in Milltown.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: I have to go. You, too.
>> Simon: I'm not stopping you, Lily. What are you so afraid of leaving behind?
>> Lily: I just wanted this to go differently. I wanted you to understand.
>> Simon: And what would an understanding man do? Huh? Bow his head and step aside while the woman that he is in love with throws away her life. Now I can't do that.
>> Lily: I'm not a child. I have two children. Two children who need me. They come before you, they come before me, they come before everything.
>> Simon: I'm not keeping you from them.
>> Lily: I have a family. I -- it comes with a lot of responsibility.
>> Simon: Yeah, and what is your responsibility towards the truth?
>> Lily: What truth?
>> Simon: The truth, Lily. That no matter where you are, no matter how much ocean is between us, no matter what side of the equator I am standing on, I will always love you. And I know that you love me.
>> Lily: Don't do this. This isn't -- this isn't fair. You're twisting around my words and my feelings. And I don't need your permission to walk out the door.

SIMON FRASIER ALONE.

>> Simon: Where's that bloody invitation?
