LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Simon: It is so good to see you. I wish we were alone. So I could tell
you how much I've missed you.
>> Lily: I missed you, too.
>> Simon: When you called, I wanted to set off fireworks. I can't tell you
how hard it was to wait for that call.
>> Lily: I couldn't tell. You seemed very, very distant.
>> Simon: Oh, yeah, I wasn't alone. Holden was standing right there next to
me.
>> Lily: Holden? Why?
>> Simon: The garage sent me out on a call -- to fix a truck. I had no idea it
was Holden's mother's farm, let alone Holden was staying there.
>> Lily: I'm sorry, that must have been very awkward.
>> Simon: It was fine. It was fine. Let's talk about why you're here. Have
you thought about us? Reached a decision about our future?
>> Lily: I've given it so much thought. And I realize what I have to do.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: Sometimes when I wake up in the morning, even before I open my
eyes, I forget that we're not on our island anymore. And I -- I imagine you
bringing me berries and us sitting on the beach having breakfast and trying
to figure out how to get through another day.
>> Simon: Who would have guessed that those would become "The good
old days"?
>> Lily: And I don't know when it happened -- or how -- but at some point,
we became one person. Nothing mattered -- Nothing mattered unless it
mattered to both of us. To us. Every decision was about us. Not you or me.
>> Simon: That was the only way that we would have survived.
>> Lily: And we have. And now that island seems a million miles away,
and you're still a part of me. And I feel that I've been -- I've been cruel and I
abused your kindness and your friendship.
>> Simon: So you're saying good-bye.
>> Lily: I never meant to hurt you, Simon.
>> Simon: Hurt me? How can I be hurt when the woman I love has just told
me that I'm a part of her?
>> Lily: I meant it. I meant every word.
>> Simon: I know. I know. And I know something else about you now, too
-- something that I have suspected for a long time. Lily, no matter what
decision that you make about our future, I know that you love me, too, as
much as I love you.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: There are all kinds of love, Simon. What we shared is special and
unique. But then I came home and I realized that the life that I had -- the life
that I fought so hard for -- my husband and my children -- I can't walk away
from them now.
>> Simon: That's not what you said when you asked me to stay.
>> Lily: I know. I know. And I was torn and I was confused. But then I
went to David Stenbeck's funeral. And there he was, just lying there with a
smug look on his face even in death. And I realized everything that Holden
and I have overcome -- all the obstacles in our life -- and I have -- I made a
vow to him to love him, through good times and bad. And I cannot break
that vow, not after everything that we've been through.
>> Simon: No one ever intends to break their marriage vows, okay? But it
just happens. Lily, we fell in love on that island.
>> Lily: That was after I convinced myself that I was never going to come
home. That I would never see my husband or my children again.
>> Simon: But we did -- we did make it home. We came home and you
were still torn.
>> Lily: I know. I expected to come home to people who would hug me,
kiss me and have tears in their eyes because they missed me so much. But
nobody missed me, thanks to Rose. And I didn't know if I could go back to
my life. I didn't know if I could return to the life that I had before.
>> Simon: Of course you can't. You can't. Lily, you changed on that island,
all right? You cannot go back to the way you were.
>> Lily: I realize that now. I realize that. I also realize that what I have with
my husband and my children is very precious. And if I'm stronger now, then
I have to -- I have to use that strength to hold onto the life that I have been
blessed with.
>> Simon: Well, that makes perfect sense.
>> Lily: You understand?
>> Simon: Yeah. Yeah, I understand that you have thought about this
rationally and logically. But you know what? That is the old Lily talking.
The woman that you were before we discovered there was fire inside of you.
>> Lily: It wasn't real. That was another time and place.
>> Simon: It wasn't real? What could be more real than looking death in the
face every day? You did that, lily. You faced danger head-on and you never
gave in. Just like you wouldn't give in to your feelings for me until you
couldn't stand it anymore, and then you let it happen. You let that passion
come through, and you were a different person. You learned how to live and
love in a way that you never have before. Lily, that was the woman that I
fell in love with. And I won't let her go.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Simon: Maybe you can ignore what happened that night on the island
before Holden showed up. But, lily, I will never forget a moment of it.
>> Lily: Please don't make this harder than it is.
>> Simon: Because you know it's true. No matter how much you may need
your family, you can't stop -- look at me. You can't stop yourself from
wanting me. And god knows I will never stop wanting you.
>> Lily: I never stopped caring about you. I never will.
>> Simon: Then give us a chance. Don't walk away from this now.
>> Lily: I made a vow. I made a vow to Holden to love him, even through
the toughest times. What kind of person am I if I break that vow? It'll be
easier when we're apart, and it will be.
>> Simon: Yeah.
>> Lily: And then you'll be able to accept that it's over.
>> Simon: It may be. I imagine it would be easier to fool ourselves like that,
Lily, and that's why I'm not going anywhere.
>> Lily: What?
>> Simon: I've decided to stay in Oakdale.
>> Lily: I thought -- I thought that once you made your decision -
>> Simon: Yeah, I know, I know, I know what I said. But while you were
deciding, I had countless hours to imagine the life that we could have
together. To dream about the incredible future that we would share. And
there is no way that I'm gonna walk away without a fight.
>> Lily: Haven't you heard a word I've said?
>> Simon: Yeah. Yes, I have. I have heard every single word. But I'm
sorry, Lily. I think you were trying to convince yourself of something that
you don't believe. And that -- that is why it would be stupid for me to go.
>> Lily: I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that it's come to this. I -- I -
>> Simon: You're only doing what you feel that you have to. I understand
that. But so am I. And that is why I cannot say good-bye to you, lily. Not
now. Perhaps not ever.
Scene 5:

SIMON FRASIER AND ROSE D'ANGELO
>> Rose: Well, well, well. If it isn't simple Simon. The diamond-losing,
wife-stealing Australian.
>> Simon: If it isn't rambling Rose, the husband-stealing, yeah, fashion-
impaired Jersey tyke.
>> Rose: Well, what's the matter? You don't like my outfit?
>> Simon: No, it seems you can take the con out of the chorus line. But you
can't take the chorus line out of the con.
>> Rose: Look who's calling the kettle a con. You bilked me out of a
multimillion-dollar diamond.
>> Simon: You had that diamond in your possession for years, Rose. It's not
my fault if you're just too thick to work it out.
>> Rose: At least I didn't lose it.
>> Simon: My sister didn't have to die for it, either.
>> Rose: Oh, please. Forgive me if I don't shed a few tears for your little
sister. She tried to blow my brains out.
>> Simon: Listen, Rose. Is this conversation over?
>> Rose: What, you don't like my company? Oh, that's right. You prefer
the boring version. Where is Lily, by the way? Upgrading you to the
presidential suite? Buying you a --
>> Simon: Lily's gone back to her husband, all right? Not that it's any of
your business.
>> Rose: Why would she do that?
>> Simon: She seems to think she still loves him.
>> Rose: She sure doesn't act that way. She acts more like she loves you.
>> Simon: Look, if you don't believe me, Rose, why don't you go ask her
yourself? She's gone back to Holden. Which means Mr. And Mrs. Snyder
are now both unavailable.
