Scene: Kitchen
EMMA SNYDER AND HOLDEN SNYDER
>> Holden: Yeah. I've got to call the garage and get Burt over --
>> Emma: I've already called. The mechanic is on his way.
>> Holden: Thank you.
>> Emma: For what? For calling the mechanic?
>> Holden: No. It's for being here for me.
>> Emma: It's what I do. It's what I know best.
[Holden goes outside and sees the mechanic working on the truck]
>> Holden: What's wrong with her?
[SIMON FRASIER appears from behind the hood]
>> Simon: What's wrong with who?
Scene 2:
Location: Emma Snyder's Farmhouse
Scene: In the yard, just outside the door
HOLDEN SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Holden: I meant, what was wrong with the truck? What are you doing
here, Frasier?
>> Simon: Burt's Garage sent me. See, I work for them now. Since I need to
stay in Oakdale for a while, I thought I might as well be gainfully employed.
>> Holden: Oh. Did you lie your way into this job, too?
>> Simon: I didn't have to, mate. See, I've got a "Way with cars," as they say.
>> Holden: Let's get something straight. I'm not your "Mate." All right? And
I don't believe that you got called onto this job. You heard the name
"Snyder," and you couldn't wait to rush over --
>> Simon: Yeah, yeah, yeah, check out the work order for yourself. You
can't even read the name. I just came to the address. Look, man, I am only
here to fix the truck, and then I'll be on my way.
>> Holden: Well, I'm gonna save you a step. Skip the truck, and be on your
way now.
Scene3:
Location: Emma Snyder's Farmhouse
Scene: In the yard, just outside the door
HOLDEN SNYDER, SIMON FRASIER, AND EMMA SNYDER
>> Holden: [on the phone] Day after tomorrow? I need my truck today. Look,
you don't have anyone that can -- all right, all right -- no, forget it. Never
mind.
>> Simon: See, I told you. I mean, I know you don't like me, but I'm here to
do a job.
>> Holden: "Like" is a very weak word. I told you to go. So why don't you
be on your way. Unless you want some trouble.
>> Simon: No, I don't. But if you're itching that badly for a fight, man, come
over here. I'll be happy to oblige.
[Emma comes outside]
>> Emma: Holden, I think the -- what's going on out here? What's he doing
here?
>> Holden: Simon's working for Burt's Garage now.
>> Emma: Well, I'll just call the garage and --
>> Holden: No, that's okay. I already called. They don't have anyone
else.
>> Emma: Well, I'm going to call --
>> Holden: Momma, I'll handle it. Can you get us something to drink, please?
>> Emma: But I --
>> Holden: I'd appreciate it.
>> Emma: Okay, I'll be right back.
[Emma goes inside]
>> Holden: Can you fix the truck or not?
>> Simon: Sure. Just let me take a look at it.
>> Holden: Well, why don't you do that, and then I want you gone.
>> Simon: That saddle looks like it's hand-tooled. There was quite a few
horses on the station where I grew up. So how're you doing?
>> Holden: You really think I want to have a conversation with you?
>> Simon: Look, I only asked a civil question, that's all.
>> Holden: You want to know how I'm doing? I miss my kids. You wouldn't
know anything about that, would you? You've never lived for anyone except
yourself, have you?
>> Simon: Yeah. Yeah, I have. Right now, as a matter of fact. So have you
seen Lily lately?
>> Holden: Have you?
>> Simon: No, I haven't, not since she went away with the kids. She said
she'd call me when she got back, so I assume she's still up at the lake. Luke
and Faith must really like it up there, huh?
>> Holden: Yeah. They do. I was just there. I made Luke a swing out of an
old tire. We had a good time. Everything's fine.
Scene 4:
Location: Emma Snyder's Farmhouse
Scene: In the yard, just outside the door
SIMON FRASIER AND HOLDEN SNYDER
>> Simon: Maybe Lily's made a decision after all, huh?
>> Holden: How's that?
>> Simon: Well, if she invited you up to the lake house, maybe you don't
have anything to worry about from me.
>> Holden: Did you figure out what's wrong with the truck?
>> Simon: Yeah, the starter's shot. I'll go call up the garage, get them to send
a new one over, all right? Kind of ironic, isn't it?
>> Holden: What?
>> Simon: This. Here we are, you and me, just two working stiffs -- me
covered in grease, you in farm dirt, waiting here for the princess to decide.
>> Holden: I really don't see my wife as a "Princess," and neither does she.
>> Simon: I know, I know, I didn't mean it that way. I'm just -- we're in love
with the same woman, Holden, and neither one of us knows our fate until she
makes up her mind.
Scene 5:
Location: Emma Snyder's Farmhouse
Scene: In the yard, just outside the door
SIMON FRASIER AND HOLDEN SNYDER
>> Simon: [On the phone]Yeah, if you could make it quick, I'd really
appreciate it. Thanks. [Hangs up] They'll send a new starter over within the
hour.
>> Holden: Hey, I can handle it.
>> Simon: Look, I don't like to sit around doing nothing. All right?
>> Holden: Neither do I.
>> Simon: That's why all this waiting for Lily. I'm not very good at it.
>> Holden: You know, you should probably just cut your losses. I hate to
tell you this, but you're outnumbered. Lily and I -- we have children, we
have a home. And you were just a --
>> Simon: What? What? Just a fling? Just a fling on the island? If it makes
you feel any better, we weren't even that. Doesn't mean my feelings are any
less than yours.
>> Holden: You can't possibly know my feelings.
>> Simon: No, I know. I know. That's not what I meant. Just for now we find
ourselves in the same boat -- waiting around for a woman to decide which
way the wind'll blow. Here, let me help.
>> Holden: I got it. [Holden hits Simon in the face with the board] Simon,
you all right?
>> Simon: Man, what are you trying to do? You trying to kill me?
>> Holden: You want an honest answer? You want me to tell you it was an
accident?
>> Simon: Yeah, what do some people say? There are no accidents?
[Holden laughs]
[EMMA SNYDER comes outside]
>> Emma: What's so funny?
>> Holden: I don't even know how to explain it to you, Mama.
Scene 6:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's Mansion
Scene: Living Room
LILY SNYDER ALONE
>> Lily: Answer, please. I need to talk to you.
Scene 7:
Location: Emma Snyder's Farmhouse
Scene: In the Yard, just outside the door
EMMA SNYDER, HOLDEN SNYDER, SIMON FRASIER, AND LILY
WALSH SNYDER (VIA THE PHONE)
>> Emma: Have you two lost your senses?
>> Holden: Actually, we were just --
[Phone rings]
>> Simon: Wait, wait, that's probably the shop calling about the part. Hello?
>> Lily: Simon --
>> Simon: Hey. How are you?
>> Lily: I miss you. I need to see you.
>> Simon: Yeah, I really wanna see you, too.
