Scene 1:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Emma Snyder Home

JACK SNYDER, CARLY SNYDER

>> Jack: So your life's a mess, and it's all your fault?
>> Carly: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I know this isn't fair to you, Jack.
>> Jack: No, wait -- hey, listen, what do I care about being fair? You want to hear something really weird? I kind of felt you walk through that door before it ever happened.
>> Carly: Don't say that. You'll just make me feel worse.
>> Jack: About what?
>> Carly: I know that you warned me about Simon, Jack --
>> Jack: Yeah, I figured we were getting to him. What's he done now?
>> Carly: It's what I've done. I picked the wrong guy.

Scene 2:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Towers Hotel Lounge

SIMON FRASIER, KATIE KASNOFF

>> Katie: I don't care about your life right now, Simon. My husband hates me. My marriage is over. So pardon me if you and your girlfriend aren't number one on the list of things that I care about right now.
>> Simon: How could you write about us having sex and leave it on your computer?
>> Katie: It was supposed to help me figure things out.
>> Simon: How?
>> Katie: Like in couples therapy. Margo told me that if I wrote everything down, things would become clearer for me so that when I talked to Mike, I would know what to say to him.
>> Simon: Well, I think it's safe to say that Margo ain't Dr. Phil.
>> Katie: Margo's not the one that got me all confused with talk about our "special bond."
>> Simon: I confused you?
>> Katie: You saw how emotional I was. You knew that, and you still moved in on me.
>> Simon: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. No, back it up here. Okay, what happened between us was a very mutual thing.
>> Katie: Oh, yeah -- the point is, if you had never come back, none of this would have ever happened. And you want to talk about ruining lives? How many times and in how many ways can you ruin mine?

Scene 3:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Towers Hotel Lounge

SIMON FRASIER, KATIE KASNOFF

>> Simon: It's my fault. Yeah, the state of the world -- my fault. Global warming -- my fault. Paris Hilton's musical career -- yeah, that's my fault, too. Yeah, blame me.
>> Katie: All I'm saying is that you knew how vulnerable I was, and you used it. All that talk about how we'd always be part of each other? I mean, what was that?
>> Simon: Okay, fine, fine. Stop, stop, stop, stop. Okay, if you want to make me out to be the bad guy here -- if that helps, fine. I didn't show up at your place to seduce you, Katie. I came there to try and talk. You know, to be adult? We have a history together. I just thought, why not acknowledge it instead of ignoring it the way we were doing? We are a part of each other's lives, Katie. We're always going to be. We're different people now, okay? We live different lives.
>> Katie: In love with different people.
>> Simon: I am so sorry about what happened, okay? I am. But it's done. And quite obviously, it didn't bring us any closer.
>> Katie: Right.
>> Simon: Right. I mean, it didn't change the way you feel about Mike, did it?
>> Katie: Nope.
>> Simon: Then go fight for it.
>> Katie: How? He won't listen to me. He's so angry, Simon.
>> Simon: Oh, no, he's sitting there writing a sonnet and making you a daisy chain. Of course he's angry.
>> Katie: Of course he is, and I understand!
>> Simon: So do I. I don't blame him at all. But listen, dry your eyes, go and speak to him and tell him what's in your heart. Okay? It's gonna take some time, but he will forgive you.
>> Katie: What are you going to do?
>> Simon: Try something new, you know? I'm gonna give the truth a try, see if I can sway Carly.
>> Katie: Good luck. I mean it.
>> Simon: You, too. And for the record, Mike would be a damn fool not to take you back.

Scene 4:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Emma Snyder Home

SIMON FRASIER, JACK SNYDER, CARLY SNYDER

>> Carly: You know how most people live and learn? I just do the "live" part. I got myself involved with a con man and a cheat, and I actually expected something resembling a normal life.
>> Jack: Maybe you don't want a normal life.
>> Carly: I had one, didn't I? I had honesty and reliability. I had quiet nights, and trust and love. I just didn't know how to hold onto it. And so, I tried to make myself believe that this thing with Simon would work in a quirky, take-life-as-it-comes sort of way. But it didn't. You were right, Jack. What in the world made me think that Simon Frasier would have a working knowledge of the meaning of the word truth?
>> Jack: Yeah, it's -- it's that bad, huh?
>> Carly: Pretty bad. I'm thinking of joining a convent.
>> Jack: That's a pretty drastic move.
>> Carly: It may be what it takes.
>> Jack: I'd give you a week.
>> Carly: I don't think they'd have me, anyway. You know, when I got in my car, I didn't have any idea where I wawas headed. And I turned up here. There's something about this place. I walk in the door, and no matter how bad things seem, I feel better. It just feels safe here, you know?
>> Jack: Yeah, I can't say that it feels all that safe to pretend that we're old friends, pouring our hearts out to each other. In fact, it's starting to feel a little phony.
>> Carly: I'm sorry.
>> Jack: No, no, don't apologize. I asked you to tell me your troubles, and you took me at my word. I guess I'm not as evolved as I'd like to be. If you have a problem with Simon, Carly, I'm sorry, I don't want to know about it.
>> Carly: I should go.
>> Jack: No, Carly, wait. Wait, Carly, I didn't mean to snap at you.
>> Carly: No, it's okay.
>> Jack: No -- did you hear me yesterday when I told you I still loved you?
>> Carly: I heard you.
>> Jack: Because I practiced that speech, like, a few dozen times before I saw you. And it took up a lot of nerve for me to actually leave the house. I miss you. I miss being a family. And yeah, the kids, they love it here, but they hate -- you know, living a torn life. And so do I. Part of us at the house and part of us here. But yesterday, you let me know loud and clear that I'm not a part of your future -- at least not the way I want to be.
>> Carly: I'm sorry.
>> Jack: No, don't apologize. You were being honest. And honesty is basically the only thing we have left. Let's not ruin that, too.
>> Carly: I don't want to ruin that.
>> Jack: No. I walked out on you because my pride took a beating. But after these few months without you -- I guess the joke's on me. I have no more pride left when it comes to us. I love you, and I miss you, and I want you back. You make my life complete. And if that doesn't sound like a cheesy movie cliche, I don't know what does --
>> Carly: It doesn't. Not when you say it.
>> Jack: Now you know why I don't want to know about your love life with Simon. I want to be your love life. And it's kind of making me crazy being so close to you and knowing I might as well be a million miles away.
>> Carly: Jack --
>> Simon: I'm sorry for barging in --
>> Jack: You've got to be kidding me. Get the hell out of Emma's house! What are you doing here? Get out of here!
>> Simon: Carly, can we talk? I will go -- I just want to -- Carly, please hear me out. And if you hate me after what I've got to say, I will go, all right?
>> Jack: I'm going to give you a choice. You can leave here right now on your own, or I can help you leave.

Scene 5:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Kasnoff Cottage

KATIE KASNOFF, MIKE KASNOFF

>> Katie: I won't make this easy for you, Mike. I love you!
>> Mike: I'll clear my tools out of the garage tomorrow.
>> Katie: Stop talking about tools!
>> Mike: What's left to talk about?
>> Katie: A lot of couples go through this and they're fine. Look at Tom and Margo, they went to see a counselor. We could do that.
>> Mike: I can't even imagine talking about this to someone. I don't even want to talk to you about it. It just makes me sick.
>> Katie: Okay, you understand. You need time, of course you do. We both do. Let's take some time and think about how we feel and what we want to do, and then we'll come back to each other and we'll miss each other.
>> Mike: Katie, you have had feelings for Simon for as long as we've been together. I don't see how time's really going to help us.
>> Katie: No, it was just seeing him again.
>> Mike: Oh, that's all it took? What's that say about our relationship? All right, you were hiding your feelings, thinking that if no one saw it, there wouldn't be a problem.
>> Katie: How can I fix this? What can I do? What do you want?
>> Mike: I want to be the only man you love.
>> Katie: You are.
>> Mike: You expect me to believe that?
>> Katie: Yes, because it's true, Mike. Please believe me.
>> Mike: I don't. But here's something you need to know. Once I walk out that door, I'm never coming back.

Scene 6:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Emma Snyder Home

SIMON FRASIER, JACK SNYDER, CARLY SNYDER

>> Simon: Carly, can we please talk outside?
>> Jack: Did you not hear what I said?
>> Simon: I'm really sorry, Jack, but I am waiting to hear from Carly.
>> Carly: It's gonna be a long wait.
[ Cell phone rings ]
>> Jack: It's work. Hello? Yeah. Margo, listen -- yeah, this isn't a very -- right now? I -- I'll be right there. I have to go to the station. Would you like me to escort this gentleman out?
>> Carly: No. It's all right, I can handle it from here.
>> Jack: You're sure?
>> Simon: Is he always on duty?
>> Carly: Oh, cut it out, Simon.
>> Simon: Why'd you come running back to your ex so soon?
>> Carly: Why did you go to yours? And for the record, I didn't sleep with mine!
>> Simon: I need you to understand why I had sex with Katie.
>> Carly: Oh, I understand. She was there. You were there. And sex happens, right?
>> Simon: It changed me.
>> Carly: It changed a lot of things.
>> Simon: All right, look, we got caught up in some very intense memories, okay? It was a heat-of-the-moment thing, and it happened. I'm not saying it's right. In fact, it was very wrong. But it happened. Regretfully. I think we were both trying to see subconsciously if we were meant to be together or it was finally over between us.
>> Carly: Oh, which is it?
>> Simon: When I saw that look on your face after you found out what happened, that hurt me more than I knew it ever could. Okay? And in that moment, in that one moment, there was without a shadow of a doubt -- it became clear to me, Carly. It is over with Katie. Totally over. I want to be with you.

Scene 7:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Emma Snyder Home

SIMON FRASIER, CARLY SNYDER

>> Carly: So sleeping with Katie helped you make up your mind?
>> Simon: It put everything in perspective.
>> Carly: Well, couldn't you have just played eeny, meeny, miney, mo?
>> Simon: I'm serious, carly. And not to be too specific, but when I left your place, I was under the very strong impression that you didn't want me anymore, you were done with me. I thought you were serious when you told jack that we were nothing more than just business partners.
>> Carly: I slept with you, simon. Do you think that I sleep with all the men that I do business with? And before you take a guess, I'll answer it for you. The answer is no, I don'T. It meant something to me.
>> Simon: Well, I didn't know that then. How was I supposed to know?
>> Carly: There are so many men who don't have to ask that question.
>> Simon: I'm sorry I couldn't read your mind. On the positive side, at least it ended that chapter of my life.
>> Carly: Oh, yes, well, it all works out in your favor then, huh? Isn't that what Simon Frasier's life is all about?
>> Simon: Funnily enough, no. Not anymore. What are you thinking? What do you want me to do?
>> Carly: I'm thinking that you're still pretty much a liar. You could have come clean the moment that I apologized for telling jack that we were just business partners. I put all my cards on the table, and you conveniently neglected to tell me that you had just slept with katie.
>> Simon: I was struggling with what to do.
>> Carly: I was struggling, too. I had just walked away from a man -- a good man. A decent man. A man that I know that I could have counted on for the rest of my life.
>> Simon: You walked away from him for your own reasons. And those reasons had nothing to do with my little indiscretion with katie. And I'm sorry it took me a while, that I couldn't admit the truth, but I was trying to process what I did, okay? The way that you took a little time to process that we were more than maybe just business partners. Carly, I don't want you to walk away from this, okay? I think you are incredible. You are like no woman I have ever met. I mean, you're more like me than any other human being I've ever met.
>> Carly: Oh, I'm sorry, is that supposed to be a compliment?
>> Simon: No. No, it's not, 'cause you are way better. Come on, we have so much potential, and you know it. I don't want to lose you. If I could, you know what I would do? I would get in a time machine -- I would -- and go back and change everything that happened between me and katie just then. I would.
>> Carly: Maybe that wouldn't be the best thing. I'm not saying that I'm not really hurt, and pretty mad that you slept with katie. But maybe in the long run, it'll turn out to be a good thing.

Scene 5:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Kasnoff Cottage

KATIE KASNOFF, MIKE KASNOFF

>> Katie: This is our home, Mike. You don't just walk out of your home like it's nothing.
>> Mike: I tried, Katie, every way I know how to make it ours. But I was competing against Simon the whole time.
>> Katie: No, you weren't! We planned our wedding here. We wrote our vows right here. We planned on what flowers we wanted, we picked out our cake. We sat in front of that hearth, talked about our kids, what we would name them. We planned so many celebrations here, and birthdays and anniversaries and graduations.
>> Mike: How many times did I tell you to get rid of those? But there was always some reason, always some excuse. You couldn't find the right place for them, they didn't mean anything. Or you just forget that they were there.
>> Katie: They don't mean anything, Mike, they don't.
>> Mike: Well, obviously, they do. Obviously it's just another reminder that I'm taking up space in another guy's home.
>> Katie: No, Mike, this is our home -- yours and mine. It's ours!
>> Mike: All right, all right. I'm not gonna be a consolation prize.
>> Katie: Oh, god, no. Mike, do not do that. Please, don't do that!
>> Mike: You want to put this in your next box of memories.
