PAUL'S PUBLICITY
SOAP OPERA DIGEST
JULY, 2001
"Soaps Hottest Newcomers"
Paul Leyden:
What is your idea of a perfect date? "Kristina Sisco [Abigail, who's
sitting next to him]. Lying in a hammock in some beautiful
beach bungalow in a tropical place like Thailand or something. Enjoying
each other's company, eating, drinking and swimming...Wow,
Kristina, let's go now!"
Do you have any hidden talents? "If I tell you, they won't be hidden
anymore."
Which celebrity's career do you most admire? "Mel Gibson, Russell Crowe
and probably Tom Cruise, as well. Mel and Tom have
been in the industry for a long time and have had very successful
careers, which they've been able to maintain with good publicity and
good movies, and by continually transforming."
What song makes you totally happy? "'Tiny Dancer' by Elton John. I
love that film, Almost Famous [in which it was featured],
and it was a really cool scene. Whenever I hear that, it makes me feel
good."
What was your biggest on-set gaffe? "Probably at my audition, when I
tripped. But apart from that, a funny thing happened the
other day. We were doing a pretty emotional scene between Martha
[Byrne, Lily/Rose] and I, and I turned around and a huge booger
went flying out of my nose. Everyone just lost it. Then, the booth
played it back in slow motion. So, probably my biggest on-set
gaffe is not blowing my nose before I got to the set."
PEER REVIEW: "If there's any way of being serious about what you are
doing without being too serious about it, that's Paul
Leyden," says on-screen wife Terri Conn (Katie). "It's like a perfect
combination. He cares about every scene and wants to make
everything the best it can be, yet he doesn't dwell on it or take it too
seriously, which you can't, really, in daytime."
