Scene 1:
Location: Railroad boxcar.
LILY WALSH SNYDER ALONE.
[Lily awakens and gets up. She walks across the boxcar.]
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
[Simon gets back in the railroad car and steadies an unsteady Lily. Simon looks like he had a haircut, or at least no grease in
his hair.]
>> Simon: Whoa, whoa. Easy, easy, easy. I've got you. You all right? So how are you feeling this morning, Rose? It is Rose
isn't it?
>> Lily: The way I'm feeling, I'd rather be anybody else.
>> Simon: Come on.
Scene 2:
Location: Railroad boxcar.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
[Lily coughing.]
>> Lily: Is there anything on this train that I'm not allergic to?
>> Simon: I don't know. What are you allergic to?
>> Lily: Nature. Trees, grass, you name it. It's a good thing I'm not allergic to feathers, huh? I'd have to get out of show
business. What are you doing?
>> Simon: You're burning up.
>> Lily: Oh. And this is supposed to bring my temperature down?
>> Simon: Not even a fever can stop the wise cracks, eh? Look, your fever gets any higher, and this whole boxcar will catch
on fire. I'll fetched some water from the nearby stream.
>> Lily: So, do you have any idea where we are?
>> Simon: No. Not exactly. But I figure we are way, way north. Maybe even in Canada.
>> Lily: How come I haven't heard any more trains?
>> Simon: Because there aren't any. I don't know, it seems we're on some unused railroad spur. I have no idea why this train
uncoupled us here last night.
>> Lily: What are you doing? You're hanging around here. Why don't you go back to Atlantic City? Get that diamond that I
stashed. Fuse box -- casino showroom.
>> Simon: Yeah, yeah, I know. Don't worry, I'm still going to get that diamond. And just as you're well enough, you're going to
come with me and show me exactly where it is.
>> Lily: It may be too late by then. Someone could have found it. Why don't you just -- you go ahead and I'll be fine.
>> Simon: I can't risk losing you.
>> Lily: Why don't you just go and then you send help when you can.
>> Simon: See, the problem as I see it, Rose, is that you could be lying.
>> Lily: Do I look like I've got enough energy to lie to you?
>> Simon: Yeah, and see, that's the other thing -- you've been feverish all night. Look, I'm not going to leave you here to die,
Rose. All right? I'm not leaving you here alone.
>> Lily: Should I be touched by your concern?
>> Simon: Only if my search for that diamond moves you. And just as soon as you're well enough, you and I, we're going to
go and get that diamond together.
Scene 3:
Location: Railroad boxcar.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: Why don't you stop playing male nurse and get your diamond?
>> Simon: 'Cause I'm safeguarding it by keeping you alive.
>> Lily: The trail could be cold by now. That person that was shooting at us could have gotten your diamond.
>> Simon: No, no, no, my money's on you, Rose. Unless Lily's got it. In which case, she will be so sorry that she treated me
like an idiot.
>> Lily: Nah, nah, Lily never wanted that diamond. She just wanted to be left alone.
>> Simon: Are you kidding me? Oh, come on. You buy her innocent routine?
>> Lily: Yeah, that girl never left croakdale.
>> Simon: Look, don't underestimate Lily's skill at deception, Rose. I mean, come on, wasn't it her idea in the first place to
confuse me by dressing you two like twins?
>> Lily: Yes.
>> Simon: Yes, yes. See? Look, cagey Lily's probably known about you for some time, Rose. And I only wish I knew earlier as
well, 'cause I wouldn't have wasted so much time in Oakdale.
Scene 4:
Location: Railroad boxcar.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Simon: I thought I was so clever when I got to Oakdale. I thought I had the perfect plan. To leave those letters cleverly
beside the pond, where Lily would find them, and then turn up later and knock on the door to retrieve them. But for what, you
know? Some wild goose chase. I don't know. Maybe it would have made things simpler, a lot easier, if I had just been up
front, told Lily the truth from the outset. Then Lily probably would have thought I was just, you know, some greedy con artist
trying to worm my way into her wealth. You know, I wouldn't have even got close to the diamond that way. But Rose, Lily --
Lily has no idea what that diamond means to me, or to my family. Or the danger of it. I know I keep talking about this danger,
but you know, I could end up dead over it. And I have no intention of dying.
>> Lily: Just go, Simon. Just get off the train.
>> Simon: Hey, hey. Rose, Rose. Rose, come -- just come back. Hey, hey, hey, come on, come on. You can't be fading on
me. Rose. Look, I can't lose you. Don't -- Rose, look, I need you alive.
Scene 5:
Location: Railroad boxcar.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: No, kids, you gotta go out. You gotta play outside.
>> Simon: Rest, sweetheart. You need to rest. Don't try to talk.
[ Lily hallucinating.]
>> Simon: You're gonna be fine. Everything's gonna be fine.
>> Lily: Holden -- oh, Holden.
>> Simon: You're not Rose at all, are you? You're Lily!
