MAID KNOCKS ON THE DOOR
[Knock at door.]
>> Maid: Housekeeping.
SIMON FRASIER COMES UP BEHIND THE MAID AND TAKES THE TOWELS FROM THE MAID.
[Lily gasps.]
>> Simon: Thank you!
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: Simon! What are you doing here? How did you find me?
>> Simon: That's the least of your worries, lily. You are in a lot more trouble than you know.
Scene 2:
Scene: Lily Walsh Snyder's hotel room.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: I'm in trouble, Simon? That line did not work back in Oakdale. You've come a very long way to try it again.
>> Simon: Listen, Lily, please.
>> Lily: Breaking into my room? I could have you arrested right now.
>> Simon: Okay, all right, go ahead. What's stopping you? There's the phone. Pick it up, turn me in.
>> Lily: I don't want this to go any further. Just please leave. Please leave right now.
>> Simon: You won't call the cops, Lily, because you still have questions, the same as I do. So, whether we like it or not, we
need each other.
>> Lily: What do you want from me?
>> Simon: Well, okay, for a start, you can explain why you're being so dishonest with me.
>> Lily: How can you even say that to me?
>> Simon: Well, the letters you stole and then replaced -- the hot and cold emotional dance. And then, you slip out of
Oakdale to lose me, and now you're here doing who knows what, to burrow your way even further into my private affairs.
>> Lily: You have been lying to me since the first day that I met you. You wormed your way into my home. You cajoled me
into giving you a place to stay. I cannot even count the number of times that you have betrayed my trust! So don't stand
there and accuse me of anything!
>> Simon: All right. All right. I may not have been completely candid.
>> Lily: Go confess to somebody else, Pinocchio.
>> Simon: But at least I'm not out to hurt you.
>> Lily: This whole mysterious stranger business is really tired, simon, so if you cannot come up with a better excuse about
hounding me, please try not to bore me.
>> Simon: I'm not lying, Lily.
>> Lily: How gullible do you think I am? I want you to leave. Please leave right now. Do you hear me?
>> Simon: Yeah. Yeah, I hear you. But I'm not leaving until you tell me why you've come to Atlantic City and what you're up
to.
Scene 3:
Scene: Lily Walsh Snyder's hotel room.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: I don't owe you anything. Least of all an explanation what I'm doing here.
>> Simon: Okay, Lily, look, I know I seem presumptuous.
>> Lily: And arrogant and impertinent. All right. If you must know, there's been a change in my plans. I'm meeting Holden here
for our getaway after he finishes his business in New York.
>> Simon: Oh, right. Yeah, holden shooting craps and sticking quarters in one-armed bandits. You know what? I don't see
it.
>> Lily: It doesn't matter what you see, or what you don't see. I've given you much more than you deserve. Now please
leave.
>> Simon: I can't.
>> Lily: This is my life, Simon.
>> Simon: Then let me help you protect it.
>> Lily: Enough! Enough with the scare tactics. I will not be manipulated by you.
>> Simon: Look, Lily, whatever it is you're looking for, whoever it is you're here to meet, let me help you. I can steer you clear
of any more trouble.
>> Lily: You, you are my only trouble. And the fact that you're trying to stay in my life, that's proof of it. I don't need you,
Simon.
>> Simon: Look, I'm afraid you do. Look, after that break-in at cal's place, and then seeing that stranger outside your house,
we've got trouble, Lily.
>> Lily: We?
>> Simon: Yes. And I only wish you could understand the danger that you could be getting yourself into by pursuing things
alone.
>> Lily: Well, explain it to me. I'll try to grasp it.
>> Simon: I can't.
>> Lily: Just what I thought. Another pointless ruse.
>> Simon: No, listen, Lil -- it's just -- look, the less you know about this, the better.
>> Lily: What is that? What is that? "You're in danger, Lily, but I can't tell you what it is."
>> Simon: Yes, there is danger nearby, and I am your only protection.
>> Lily: Take your paranoia outside, please, Simon.
>> Simon: No. No, I am not leaving until we solve this.
>> Lily: Fine. Fine. Make yourself at home. Not that you ever needed an invitation before.
Scene 4:
Scene: Lily Walsh Snyder's hotel room.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: You plan on keeping me prisoner in my own hotel room?
>> Simon: No. No, of course not. But wherever you're going, Lily, I'm coming with you. So, lead on, fair lady.
[Knock on door.]
[Rose D'Angelo is outside the door in the hallway.]
