[Ugly shoe woman hides behind the partition.]

>> Simon: Lily, this diamond belongs to me.
>> Lily: No, it belongs to Rose, and I'm not going to let you take it.
>> Simon: You don't know what you're letting her in for.
>> Lily: Oh, a life of luxury.
>> Simon: I didn't travel halfway around the globe to give up.
>> Lily: No!
>> Simon: So you take care. Get down!

Scene 2:
Scene: Backstage dressing room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Simon: Look, you'll get yourself killed.
>> Lily: I don't care! Get your hands off of me, you creep!
>> Simon: Believe me, Lily. Stay down.
>> Lily: You're not gonna scare me off.
>> Security guard: What's all the racket? Is everyone all right?
>> Lily: Help, help, help, help. Keep him away from me.
>> Security guard: You! What do you mean, sneaking in past me? I warned you not to hassle Rose.
>> Simon: I saw a gun. Get some backup.
>> Lily: He's a liar! He's a liar! He's a compulsive liar.
>> Simon: I swear. There's someone behind this screen, and they're armed.
>> Lily: Oh, really?
>> Simon: Lily!

Scene 3:
Scene: Backstage dressing room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER, SIMON FRASIER, AND A SECURITY GUARD.

>> Simon: Lily, stay back. Someone was there. I saw a gloved hand holding a gun. They must have slipped out when he came in.
>> Lily: You have missed your calling, Simon. You were born for the stage.
>> Simon: Lily, whoever it is is still after us.
>> Lily: Bravo. Bravo.

SECURITY GUARD INTERVENES.

>> Security guard: Okay, buddy, you've bothered Rose for the last time.
>> Simon: She is in danger.
>> Security guard: You're in danger if you don't clear out.

ROSE D'ANGELO WALKS IN.

>> Rose: What is this? What happened? My costume.
>> Security guard: Rose? Who's this?
>> Lily: This is what happens when you let someone like him into your life.
>> Simon: Rose, I'm so sorry. Let me make it up to you. I'll get this thing cleaned, repaired --
>> Lily: Where are you slipping off to?
>> Simon: I just think it's best if Rose just has a little bit of time to herself.
>> Lily: No, I want him arrested. He attacked me.

Scene 4:
Scene: Backstage dressing room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER, SIMON FRASIER, ROSE D'ANGELO, AND SECURITY GUARD.

>> Simon: Look, I've done nothing to be arrested for.
>> Lily: He attacked me because he thought I was Rose.
>> Simon: Oh, come on, Rose is my friend. I want to help her.
>> Lily: You saw him. You saw him. He threw me down. He threw me down to the ground.
>> Simon: Rose, Rose, just tell the big guy here what a big misunderstanding he's made.
>> Rose: I do a show, I do a brush-up on my routine, I dance until my legs are numb, and now you're splittin' my head open?
>> Security guard: Rose, you want me to get him out of here? The only place you're running is down to the police station. I'm going to take him, send him off with some of the other boys, then I'm coming right back here and make sure you and -- the other Rose -- are okay.
>> Lily: Thank you.
>> Simon: You are making a big mistake. You are getting yourself and Rose into so much serious trouble.
>> Security guard: Come on.
>> Simon: Don't do this, Lily. Rose, don't let her do this.

Scene 5:
Scene: Backstage dressing room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND ROSE D'ANGELO

>> Lily: See, that -- that is the "rose" that -- that Simon's great-grandfather refers to in all of his letter to "beloved." The "Rose of Sharon" diamond. It was Simon's great-grandfather's last gift to her before they were separated.
>> Rose: Oh, those were the days, huh? Now love tokens come out of gumball machines.
>> Lily: To think, after all these years, that the diamond ends up with you.
>> Rose: The question is, how? More importantly, why?
>> Lily: Oh, I'm just hoping that I'm right -- that I'm right, that it is real.
>> Rose: Well, you better believe I'm going to have it checked out. This baby right here -- I have just the guy.

SIMON FRASIER (FROM JAIL) PHONES ROSE D'ANGELO.

[Phone rings.]
>> Rose: Hello?
>> Simon: Hey, Rose, it's Simon. I wasn't sure whether I'd catch you.
>> Rose: Oh, Simon. I -- I hope that you're not wasting your one phone call on me.
>> Simon: Look, I'll be okay. I just want to know how you were doing.
>> Rose: Me? I'm fine.
>> Simon: Are you alone?
>> Rose: You betcha. I -- kicked Lily out of here as soon as you left. I -- I took my costume and my headdress and I told her to, you know, get off. And I -- she was yelling at me about something. She wanted to talk to me about something. I just told her to quit her yapping.
>> Simon: That -- that's a smart move, Rose. Look -- just -- she's feeding you lies. All right? Just don't believe a word she says.
>> Rose: And your word's gospel?
>> Simon: It's close enough. Listen, listen. I'll be out by the morning. These -- these charges won't stick. I'll explain everything tomorrow.
>> Rose: You'll be out? Tomorrow? You'll explain?
>> Simon: Can we -- can we meet? First thing?
>> Rose: Meet you? Well, you know I'm not a morning person.

[Lily whispers to Rose.]
>> Lily: "Trust me."
>> Rose: All right. Okay. Sure. Pencil me in.
>> Simon: Great! Great. Look, I'll -- I'll contact you as soon as they release me. But listen, Rose. There is danger, okay? You need to keep safe.
>> Rose: Ah, don't worry about it. Murray, the security guard -- he's -- he's keeping an eye out.
>> Simon: Good. Good, good. Just stay put until I contact you. It's not even safe to leave the hotel, all right? Listen, apart from Murray, don't let anybody -- nobody near you until we've had a little chat, okay? Especially -- especially not Lily.
>> Rose: Gotcha. I'll see ya tomorrow then.
>> Simon: Great. I'll see you tomorrow.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND ROSE D'ANGELO

>> Rose: Did -- did I just put my life in your hands?
>> Lily: You trusted me. You won't be sorry.
