ROSE D'ANGELO AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Rose: Hey, fancy meeting you here.
>> Simon: How you doing, Rose? It's kind of early for you, isn't it? You got
a dance class?
>> Rose: No. No classes. Just gonna work on some routines. How's it
going?
>> Simon: Fine.
>> Rose: Was I dreaming? It seemed like you and Lily were getting into
something intense last night. Looked that way to me.
>> Simon: Yeah, it was pretty intense, I guess. Look, I really got to do this
inventory.
>> Rose: Well, come on. I need details -- details. I thought I saw a spark
going on there between the two of you. Did you two get something going?
>> Simon: Yeah. Yeah, we got something going. Going down like a sinking
ship.
>> Rose: What are talking -- are you saying that it's over? Is it over? I mean,
permanently over?
>> Simon: Yes, it's over. Permanently. Completely. Utterly.
>> Rose: Well, what's your next move?
>> Simon: Well, I've been giving that a lot of thought.
>> Rose: Good.
>> Simon: Yeah, and I really think I've come up with something that's gonna
work.
>> Rose: Let me hear it.
>> Simon: All right. All right. First, I'm gonna start by playing it really,
really cool.
>> Rose: Yeah? Then what?
>> Simon: Okay, and then when Lily least expects it --
>> Rose: Yeah?
>> Simon: I'm going to get out of her life, so she can get on with her marriage.
>> Rose: What, are you nuts?
Scene 2:
Location: Java Coffee Shop building - downstairs.
Scene: Java Underground - the club.
ROSE D'ANGELO AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Rose: So you're gonna give up? Just like that?
>> Simon: I'm giving Lily what she wants, all right? Holden.
>> Rose: Did she say that to you?
>> Simon: No, no, I made it up.
>> Rose: You know, maybe she said that to you because she's trying to make
you jealous.
>> Simon: Yeah? Well, she succeeded.
>> Rose: Come on. You're Australian. You're supposed to be tough, skinning
alligators with your teeth, stuff like that.
>> Simon: I've gone way too many rounds on this one, Rose. All right? I'm
throwing in the towel.
>> Rose: But you'd do anything for Lily. I mean, you even married Katie
Peretti, the piranha, to stay close by.
>> Simon: That was then.
>> Rose: You can't give up now. You can't. Simon, you know women. You
gotta charm them. You gotta woo them.
>> Simon: Look, Rose, just --
>> Rose: She needs some sex. I'm telling you -- you gotta get on with it. You
gotta get on your business. Simon!
>> Simon: That's not gonna happen.
>> Rose: Look at you. You love her. Look at your face.
>> Simon: Yes, yes, yes, I still love her. All right? That was never in dispute.
>> Rose: Then do something about it.
>> Simon: I have. I'm giving her what she wants by letting her go. All right,
I want what's best for her. That's the way love works.
>> Rose: Not back where I come from in New Jersey. We do the pit bull
theory. We hold on for dear life. We don't let go. We never let anything
shake us.
>> Simon: Yeah, well I'm not from Jersey.
>> Rose: Lily's your love. She's your love. You gotta fight for her.
>> Simon: I am so done fighting, Rose.
>> Rose: I'm gonna not let you do this to yourself.
>> Simon: Who you trying to kid? What -- like you care about me all the
sudden.
>> Rose: Simon, you are the most important person in the world to me right
now. Because if you give up on this romance, there's only one guy that Lily's
gonna glom onto -- Holden. And I'm not letting her have him back. No!
Scene 3:
Location: Java Coffee Shop building - downstairs.
Scene: Java Underground - the club.
ROSE D'ANGELO AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Simon: Rose, I am so not interested in your problems hanging onto
Holden.
>> Rose: Well, I'm not just thinking of myself. Okay? It would be better for
everybody if Lily chose you.
>> Simon: Yeah, well, Lily doesn't see it that way.
>> Rose: You think you're doing her a favor, huh? Holden and Lily get back
together again. Two, three years down the road, Lily realizes that she settled
for something -- again. And she starts to think how that sweet Australian guy
that she was crazy in love with and she let him walk off into the sunset
because she was afraid.
>> Simon: Look, Lily has made up her mind.
>> Rose: So has Holden. He's happier with me.
>> Simon: Yeah, sure, if that's what you want to believe.
>> Rose: I got proof.
>> Simon: What are you talking about?
>> Rose: Right here. This is a letter that Holden wrote to me, last summer
when he thought I was Lily. Right here. Look at it, in black and white. How
our life together was better than before Lily left. How he loves the new me
and he's fallen in love all over again. Right there.
>> Simon: Lily can't see this.
>> Rose: I don't want to hurt her. I don't want to see her make some decision,
some stupid decision based on some cock-eyed idea of loyalty or -- I don't
know what. It's gonna mess up everything for all of us. You can change her
mind. I know you can.
>> Simon: What?
>> Rose: Holden. What we have -- Holden and I have is magic. It's the kind
of magic you have with Lily. And it's the jackpot, Simon. How many times
in our life do we get to experience something like that? You and me and
Holden and Lily -- if we give up now, we may never have it again. Okay, so
make Lily choose you, and we can all be happy.
Scene 4:
SIMON FRAISER PHONES HOLDEN SNYDER.
[Phone rings.]
>> Holden: Hello?
>> Simon: Yeah, it's Simon.
>> Holden: Yeah?
>> Simon: Look, man, I need to talk to you, but I've gotta work. You think
you can swing by Java Underground this morning? Just wait one second.
ROSE D'ANGELO AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Simon: What? Are you outta here?
>> Rose: Think about what I said.
PHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN SIMON FRAISER AND
HOLDEN SNYDER.
>> Simon: Look, I saw Lily last night, and I think there are some things you
don't know.
Scene 5:
Location: Java Coffee Shop building - downstairs.
Scene: Java Underground - the club.
HOLDEN SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Holden: I'm here. What's this about?
>> Simon: Hey, want a drink?
>> Holden: Get on with it. I don't enjoy being summoned by you, so
whatever you have to say about my wife -- out with it.
>> Simon: All right, I saw Lily last night. There's no way that she and I have
a future together.
>> Holden: That's it?
>> Simon: I thought that might mean something to you.
>> Holden: I've already heard it all.
>> Simon: But wait a minute. She wants her life back, all right? With you
and the kids.
>> Holden: So she said.
>> Simon: And what? You didn't believe her?
>> Holden: I don't need to answer any questions from you.
>> Simon: What? So you're not through punishing yet? Is that it?
>> Holden: I don't need you telling me about my wife!
>> Simon: Oh, yes, you do, man, you do, because I am the only person who
can swear on a stack of bibles that your wife has done nothing to deserve this
kind of punishment. What? You never believed her, did you? It's been
months, and you still think that we slept together on that island! We didn't!
What you saw, what you walked in on -- that was as far as it got! Come on,
man, she talked about you constantly -- you and the kids. She wanted to go
home. And every day, she fought with everything in her to get back to her
life. Then one day after months, she gave up. She gave up fighting, and that's
when you decided to turn up.
>> Holden: She left me for you.
>> Simon: Yeah, for a while. Then I guess she remembered what she really
wanted. Look, this is for you.
>> Holden: Does Isaac know you're giving up profits?
>> Simon: No, it's bought and paid for, okay? It's repaying the favor you did
for me.
>> Holden: Oh, when I showed up at the garage with that bottle of scotch,
tried to warn you about Katie -- I didn't do that for you.
>> Simon: No, no, you did it for Lily so that she wouldn't be hurt again.
Since I'm doing it for the same reason, consider this a reminder.
>> Holden: I don't need it. There are no more Katies' in my life -- not
anymore.
>> Simon: Okay, so there's nothing and nobody stopping you from being with
Lily.
>> Holden: You leaving town?
>> Simon: Is that what it would take to convince you that it's over between
Lily and me?
>> Holden: I don't know.
>> Simon: Lily wants you. She probably always has. The question is, do you
want her?
Scene 6:
Location: Java Coffee Shop building - downstairs.
Scene: Java Underground - the club.
HOLDEN SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Holden: You really think that I'm gonna spill my guts to you about
anything that's going on between Lily and me?
>> Simon: Fine. Fine. Keep your plans to yourself. Just stop blaming Lily
for all of this because you did your part.
>> Holden: Yeah, I did. I listened to my wife. I wanted you out of that
house, but instead, I let her convince me to let you stay. If I hadn't done that,
none of this would've happened in the first place!
>> Simon: Yeah, yeah, and there still would have been Katie down at the TV
station.
>> Holden: I never left Lily for Katie.
>> Simon: No. But you're gonna leave her for Rose?
>> Holden: That is none of your business.
>> Simon: You want me to back off? Fine, I'll back off. You want me out of
town? I'm a ghost.
>> Holden: That's generous. That's very generous of you.
>> Simon: 'Cause I will do whatever it takes to make Lily happy, to see that
she isn't hurt -- because, yeah, I do love her.
ROSE D'ANGELO ENTERS BRIEFLY.
>> Simon: And if you loved her, you would do the same thing, not make the
same mistake. Wake up, man.
ROSE D'ANGELO LEAVES.
>> Simon: Your life -- the life that you had with Lily, the life that you wanted
back -- it's right there for the taking.
>> Holden: Thanks for this.
>> Simon: Sure.
[Holden Snyder walks out.]
ROSE D'ANGELO RE-ENTERS.
>> Rose: Thanks! Thanks a trillion!
>> Simon: Ah, you're back.
>> Rose: Yeah, yeah. So, what did Holden say?
>> Simon: So, what did you hear?
>> Rose: What? Does he know that I still have his letter?
>> Simon: No.
>> Rose: If you're settin' me up, I swear, I will -- I will rip your heart out.
>> Simon: It's too late for that, Rose. It's already been done.
Scene 7:
Location: Burt's garage.
Scene: The shop.
SIMON FRAISER AND MRS. KATIE PERETTI FRAISER
[Katie sneezes.]
>> Simon: What, are you coming down with -- well, what happened to you?
>> Katie: Oh, I tried to pay a friendly visit to Lily Snyder.
>> Simon: Yeah? Looks like you and Lily have a different definition of
friendly.
>> Katie: Yeah, well, I was trying to make amends, but that woman is a
maniac. She went totally crazy and took the hose to me.
[Simon laughs.]
>> Katie: It's not funny.
>> Simon: Believe me, it's funny. Come here.
>> Katie: I can't believe you're still defending her, especially now.
>> Simon: Look, you know Lily and I are over with.
>> Katie: Oh, yeah, like you're so over it.
>> Simon: Yeah, I have to be.
>> Katie: That is the most wonderful thing that I've ever heard.
>> Simon: We've really gotta get you some sensitivity training, don't we?
>> Katie: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I know that your feelings have been hurt,
but life goes on. Now you and I can be a real couple.
Scene 8:
Location: Burt's garage.
Scene: The shop.
SIMON FRAISER AND MRS. KATIE PERETTI FRAISER
>> Katie: This could be the best thing that ever happened to you.
>> Simon: What, a life of wedded bliss with you?
>> Katie: Why not? You're not gonna be moping around here, pining after
Lily anymore. Besides, you were attracted once. You can be again.
[Katie sneezes.]
>> Simon: Aw, thanks.
>> Katie: Sorry.
>> Simon: You want to know something? After everything that you've done
for me and to me, for that matter, I still think you're really sweet. But there is
no you and me.
>> Katie: But there can be if you would just give it a chance. Why do you
have to be so stubborn?
>> Simon: Because I'm leaving Oakdale.
>> Katie: What? Why? To go back to Australia?
>> Simon: Look, I didn't say --
>> Katie: What is waiting for you --
>> Simon: I didn't say where I was going. I just said that I'm getting out of
here.
>> Katie: You can't just run off, Simon. What about the I.N.S.? What about
me?
>> Simon: You know what's weird? In some sick, twisted kind of way, I'm
really gonna miss you and that troublemaking smile.
>> Katie: Yeah? Well, this smile's not going anywhere. And neither are you,
husband of mine.
