Scene: Java Underground -the Club
ISAAC JENKINS AND ROSE D'ANGELO
>> Isaac: Hey, you decided to show up.
>> Rose: Yeah.
>> Isaac: You still interested in one of those Isaac specialty margaritas on
the rocks?
>> Rose: Uh -- maybe later. Is -- Simon Frasier, he's working tonight, right?
I can't remember is he working?
>> Isaac: I didn't realize you two were so close.
>> Rose: Oh, well --
>> Isaac: Well, he's running a little late tonight, but he should be here
momentarily.
>> Rose: All right.
>> Isaac: Why don't you just make yourself comfortable? I'm sure he'll be
here.
>> Rose: All right.
LILY SNYDER AND ROSE D'ANGELO
>> Lily: Hi, I'm sorry I'm late. Traffic was terrible.
>> Rose: You look -- you look great. Vacation really did you wonders.
>> Lily: Thank you. This is my first night back and all, so I don't want to be
away from the kids for very long. We have to make this quick.
Scene 2:
Katie's Location: Burt's Garage
Scene: The Shop
HENRY COLEMAN PHONES KATIE FRASIER FROM JAVA
UNDERGROUND
[Phone rings.]
>> Katie: Hello?
>> Henry: Hello, gumdrop. I'm just checkin' in to see if you have any late-
breaking news for your Uncle Henry.
>> Katie: I'm sorry, Henry. I haven't had the chance to ask Craig for your
letter of recommendation. But I might have a little more incentive if you
had found at least one reason why Simon is still in Oakdale. You promised
you'd help me with that.
>> Henry: Well, not without some incentive from you. I -- I have some
interesting leads, but you can't expect me to continue without any financial
encouragement.
>> Katie: Wait, wait. Excuse me. Did you say leads? Oh, yes, I can hear
you gloating, Henry. Why don't you tell me what they are right now?
>> Henry: Maybe later. But I have some late-breaking news for you. Oh, I
wish I could break this to you gently -- I really do -- but no such luck. Lily
Snyder's back in town.
>> Katie: How do you know?
>> Henry: A little birdie told me. Tweet, tweet.
ISAAC JENKINS AND LILY SNYDER
>> Isaac: Galapagos Islands. So what'd you do there for fun?
>> Lily: Aw, not much. Just eat and watch the turtles, read, watch the
turtles, sleep.
>> Isaac: That sounds like home, except for the turtles. I'll send a waiter
right over.
>> Lily: Thank you.
ROSE D'ANGELO AND LILY SNYDER
>> Rose: Well, well, well, this must be a shock to the system after all that
peace and quiet, huh?
>> Lily: I didn't expect to spend my first night home in a nightclub. So
why'd you want to meet here, Rose?
>> Rose: To celebrate your homecoming. And I got a little business to
celebrate myself on my career front.
>> Lily: Oh, your dance school? How is that going?
>> Rose: Fantastic. I mean, it's great. Isaac lets Denise and I do all this
dancing around here, on the dance floor, with the kids, and we got the
students signing up every day. I wish Luke -- I wish Luke would join.
>> Lily: Oh, he's not really keen on that idea.
>> Rose: I know. He was doing the happy dance, though, him and Faith, at
the airport when you came home. What a homecoming. So was it
everything that you expected?
Scene 3:
Katie's Location: Burt's Garage
Scene: The Shop
HENRY COLEMAN AND KATIE FRASIER STILL ON THE PHONE
>> Henry: Katie, Katie, married lady, relax. You gotta learn to calm down,
or you'll -- you won't be able to appreciate the finer things in life.
>> Katie: I want to know what these leads are, Henry. Why won't you tell
me?
SIMON FRASIER AND KATIE FRASIER (HENRY STILL ON THE
PHONE)
>> Katie: Simon, where are you going?
>> Simon: Java Underground, and I'm late.
>> Katie: Oh, well, tell Isaac I said Hi.
>> Simon: Why don't you tell him yourself when you come and check up on
me?
>> Katie: I wasn't gonna check up on - [Simon leaves] Listen, Henry, I
know how much you love to torture me. But just this once, give me a break.
If you have any information that can help me save my marriage, cough it up.
[Henry coughs.]
LILY SNYDER AND ROSE D'ANGELO
>> Lily: So I guess my homecoming was everything that I expected. The
kids are very happy. They were all over me.
>> Rose: What about Holden? Is he all over you, too?
>> Lily: That depends on what you mean.
>> Rose: You know exactly what I mean.
>> Lily: Well, I guess it's going to take time for Holden to trust me again,
and I certainly can't blame him for that. I knew trust would be a huge issue
for us.
>> Rose: Hmm, that's interesting, because Holden and I have no problem in
that department. Trust, I mean.
>> Lily: Holden did tell me you two have been spending a lot of time
together.
>> Rose: Good. Good. I'm glad he told you, because I wanna know what
your intentions are as far as Holden goes. If you tell me yours, I'll tell you
mine.
Scene 4:
Location: Java Coffee Shop Building - downstairs
Scene: Java Underground -the Club
LILY SNYDER AND ROSE D'ANGELO
>> Lily: While I was away, I had some time to think -- a lot of time to think.
And this entire year and everything that has happened came into focus. And
for the first time in a long time, I realized what I need. I need my husband
back, Rose.
>> Rose: Oh, isn't this deja vu all over again.
>> Lily: I'm sorry if that's something that you don't want to hear.
>> Rose: Ever since you came back from that other island where you lost my
diamond, I've been very respectful. I gave you and Holden plenty of room to
reconnect. And you fumbled the ball, big time.
>> Lily: I've made more mistakes that you can count. I understand that. But
Holden has always been there for me, always -- whether I deserved it or not.
And he's there for me now, because he cares about me, Rose. And we're
going to take things slow. Holden needs time.
>> Rose: Right, he's gonna take it slow because of me. Because he cares
about me, too.
>> Lily: Look, I take full responsibility for my behavior with Simon, and if I
did anything -- anything -- to encourage you to believe that you have a
chance with Holden, I'm sorry.
>> Rose: I do.
>> Lily: This may be difficult for you to understand, but Holden and I have
been together off and on since I was 15.
>> Rose: More off than on, okay? What about Luciano, huh? The father of
that kid -- you drove him into the priesthood, right, right? I saw a picture of
that guy, and I saw pictures of other guys, too -- many, many, many others.
>> Lily: But it never lasted the way Holden and I have lasted. We belong
together, okay? It's our marriage, and we need to work it out. I don't care
how much time or how much effort we have to put into it. Our marriage
is worth fighting for.
>> Rose: I guess a marriage is kind of like a car, you know? It needs a tune-
up once a year -- change the oil, rotate the tires. And you know what I
always say? You need a good mechanic. And I happen to know one, as do
you. Are you telling me you don't care about that guy anymore? It's over
now? Just -- no more feelings?
>> Lily: I'm telling you that Simon could walk in here now and I might have
a sense of nostalgia, feel a little guilt, nothing else.
>> Rose: You sure about that?
>> Lily: Positive.
ISAAC JENKINS AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Isaac: Now, Simon, you know we got Tamira performing here tonight.
Could you go backstage and make sure that everything she needs is taken
care of?
>> Simon: Don't sweat it, I'm on it.
LILY SNYDER AND ROSE D'ANGELO
>> Lily: I'm sorry, I am. I'm sorry for a lot of things. I'm sorry for hurting
Simon. But he is not a factor in my life anymore. I mean, it's as if he and I
never happened.
>> Rose: We'll see.
Scene 5:
[Tamira performs a song in a bedroom-like setting]
I don't understand you look just like the man in the picture by our bed the
suspense is pounding and clouding up my head I'm checking your clothes
and you wear the same size shoe you sleep in his spot and you're driving his
car but I don't know just who you are there's a stranger in my heart took
awhile to figure out . .
Location: Java Coffee Shop Building - downstairs
Scene: Java Underground -the Club
LILY SNYDER AND ROSE D'ANGELO
>> Lily: Simon knows that wherever he goes, I will always be grateful to
him.
>> Rose: Yeah, me, too. I mean, he saved your life on that island. I mean,
we should all be grateful for that, right?
>> Lily: And he made me aware of things that were eating away at my
relationship with Holden.
>> Rose: Right. See, right, you just said it. You were unhappy with
Holden.
>> Lily: No, I'm unhappy with myself and looking for things that I didn't
have.
>> Rose: So how is this any different?
>> Lily: Rose, I love Holden.
>> Rose: Not as much as I do.
>> Lily: Rose, my future is going to be decided by what Holden wants, not
what you want.
>> Rose: How do you know what he wants anymore?
>> Lily: Oh, and I suppose you do.
>> Rose: Yeah. He wants to have fun, and he has the most fun with me. He
told me.
>> Lily: In your dreams.
>> Rose: Oh, yeah? All right. Give him a call. He's out at the farm. Come
on, ask him yourself.
[Rose knocks wine into Lily's lap]
[Lily squeal.]
>> Lily: Oh, Rose, this is never gonna come out.
>> Rose: Oh, you better hurry up and go to that bar right there -- that bar,
and get some club soda on that before the stain sets. Hurry up.
Scene: The Bar
LILY SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: Excuse me, do you have some club soda? Somebody spilled some
red wine --
Scene 6:
Location: Java Coffee Shop Building - downstairs
Scene: Java Underground - the club
LILY SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: I didn't know you worked here.
>> Simon: Yeah, Isaac bailed me out of jail after I drove my car through
your mother's house. So I'm paying him back.
>> Lily: I thought the courts did that. Don't they return bail money?
>> Simon: Well, after you pay all the expenses, it still adds up.
>> Lily: Simon, I'm --
>> Simon: You look good in red. I mean, you look good in anything -- or
nothing.
>> Lily: Simon, I didn't even -- thank you -- I just got back. I haven't spoken
to my mother. Was there a trial?
>> Simon: No, she dropped the charges.
>> Lily: Oh, I'm glad. Why did she do that?
>> Simon: Who knows why she does anything. I mean, obviously, you had
nothing to do with changing her mind.
>> Lily: I don't know what to say.
>> Simon: Really? See, I thought you made your message loud and clear
when I was hauled off to jail and you left town without saying a word. Or
didn't you know what to say then, either?
>> Lily: I thought I had said everything I needed to say. I didn't think you
needed to hear it again.
>> Simon: Oh, yeah, I remember. I was outnumbered, wasn't I? By your
husband and your children, even your own mother.
>> Lily: My family is very important to me. That will never change. And
I'm sure you probably hate me. But you know what? I'd like to make it up
to you.
>> Simon: How?
Scene 7:
[Tamira performs again]
Love in a special way what more can I say love me now love in a special
way what more can I say love me now
Location: Java Coffee Shop Building - downstairs
Scene: Java Underground -the Club
LILY SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: You just tell me what you want, and I'll do everything in my power
to make that happen. My mother has connections in D.C. She got you into
this I.N.S. Mess, she can get you out of it. I'm sure she can get you out of
the marriage, too.
>> Simon: And then what?
>> Lily: Then you can go back to being who you are.
>> Simon: Oh. And who might that be?
>> Lily: An adventurer, a traveler, an explorer. You can go back to
Australia.
>> Simon: Trying to get rid of me?
>> Lily: That's not what I meant.
>> Simon: It's not? And here I was, thinking it was only Lucinda.
>> Lily: You're not making this easy, Simon.
>> Simon: And that's how you like things, I know. But no matter how hard I
try, I can't think of a settlement that could go towards satisfying the collapse
of a dream. You know, and I know you'd like to pay me off and release a lot
of that upper-class guilt that you're feeling. But unfortunately, I don't want
your money or your good intentions. So, instead, I'm going to stay right here
in Oakdale with Katie.
>> Lily: Why? Why? Why do that? What's the point?
>> Simon: One of these days, you'll find out.
[Tamira performs]
So reach into your chain of thoughts try to find something new 'cause what
worked so well for you before for me it just won't do no, no . . .
Scene 8:
Burt's Garage
HENRY COLEMAN AND KATIE FRASIER
[Henry sticks his head out of a car window inside the shop]
>> Henry: I heard everything.
[Katie screams.]
>> Katie: Henry, you scared me half to death. What the hell are you doing
in there? I've been waiting all night for you to call me back.
>> Henry: Oh, but, gumdrop, you hung up on Uncle Henry. So I decided to
come down here and deliver the good news in person.
>> Katie: Well, it's a little too late. Rose already beat you to it.
>> Henry: No, no, no, no, no. I mean the other good news -- about Mr.
Simon Frasier. Let's see, born February 1st, Aquarian, 1973, on a family
sheep farm in Wagga Wagga. I'm serious, Wagga Wagga, Australia, it's a
real town. The only son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Frasier, one sibling, Celia --
attended the Prince Albert Academy For Boys --
>> Katie: I know all that.
>> Henry: All right, do you know about his various jobs? He was a
firefighter in New Zealand, a construction worker in Sudan.
>> Katie: Yes, yes, I know all that. Skip to the good stuff.
>> Henry: Okay, it seems our boy has put more spin on his life than a bad
DJ. Now, he claims to have gotten a degree in architecture from the
University of Melbourne, when, in fact, he studied agriculture at Charles
Stuart U. in Wagga Wagga, but didn't graduate.
>> Katie: Fascinating.
>> Henry: All right, Ms. Know-it-all, I was saving the best for last, but if I'm
boring you --
>> Katie: No, no, no, no. Come on, keep going, keep going. Sorry.
>> Henry: Well, via the internet, I got in touch with some of Simon's old
mates -- sheep ranchers mainly -- who still live in scenic Waggaland.
Anyway, they hadn't heard from their bobby dazzler in a couple of years, so
they were really happy to hear that he was alive and doing relatively well.
Anyway, amidst the usual rousing tales of camaraderie, one little tidbit stuck
out like a piece of sirloin in a beggar's stew.
>> Katie: What?
>> Henry: The year that Simon spent in the states before he came to Oakdale
is a complete mystery. Nobody knows where he was or who he was with.
But before Simon left, he told his buddies something very interesting. He
said he might be getting married.
Scene 9:
Location: Java Coffee Shop building - downstairs.
Scene: Java Underground
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Lily: Wherever you go, whatever you decide to do, I just -- I wish you
luck.
>> Simon: Yeah, right back at you. I think luck is something we're both
gonna need.
>> Lily: If you can't or you won't accept anything else from me, just accept
my apologies. You got yourself into a lot of trouble just to be with me,
along with getting a pregnant wife out of the deal. I'm sorry. I'm making
things worse. I'm just gonna leave.
>> Simon: By the way, Katie isn't pregnant. Yeah, she was lying. So you
were right.
>> Lily: But I thought she was -- well -- it doesn't matter anymore, does it?
I'm sorry.
>> Simon: For what?
>> Lily: For everything I put you through.
>> Simon: Oh, that. Please, don't feel bad about that. I mean, I didn't do it
all for you.
Scene 9:
Location: Burt's garage
Scene: The shop
HENRY COLEMAN AND KATIE FRASIER
>> Katie: Just 'cause Simon told a bunch of drunken sheep farmers that he
might be getting married doesn't mean he actually did.
>> Henry: Well, gosh, that would make him a lying, thieving, reckless-
driving, illegal alien, bigamist. Ole!
>> Katie: Shut up, Henry! You can't call him names until you know that he
deserves them.
>> Henry: All right, well, I'll check in to see if this marriage really happened
and who the woman is. But considering the wages I'm being paid, I need
you to do something for me first.
>> Katie: What?
>> Henry: Ask Simon, huh? That won't cost you a cent, and then you can
save us both a lot of time and trouble.
>> Katie: No, Henry, that's the stupidest thing I could do. If he knows I'm
suspicious, he'll be on guard. It'll be a lot easier for you to dig up things if
he doesn't know you're doing it. Oh, god, this makes it even more crucial to
find out what Simon is doing here still. If it's not Lily and it's not me, it
must be this so-called "wife." You can't let me down now, Henry. I have to
find out.
