Scene 1:
Place: Deserted island off the North Carolina coast - Atlantic Ocean.
Location: The beach.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Lily: No. No. No. No. This can't be happening.
>> Simon: It's all right.
>> Lily: He's destroyed our only way to get off this island.
>> Simon: No, he hasn't. We will build another raft.
>> Lily: No, we're never gonna get out of here. We're never gonna get home.
>> Simon: Take it easy, lily. Please, don't panic. Please.
>> Lily: Don't panic? He's been watching me. He's been watching -- he's probably watching us right now. He's probably
somewhere. I'm never going to get home. I'm never going to see my family again. I'm going to be stuck here for the rest of my
life!
>> Simon: No, no, no. Stop it. Stop it. Stop it right there. All right? Don't jump to any conclusions. Please. This may not even be
what it looks like. It was probably a wild animal or something.
>> Lily: Simon, stop I saw him! I saw his figure through the parachute! He's a lunatic and he's been watching us. He's never
going to let us leave here, simon.
>> Simon: Yes, we are getting off th island. Stop right now. Relax. Okay? You calm down, and we can figure this out. All right?
You and me. Calm down.
>> Lily: Calm, I'm trying to calm down.
>> Simon: All right, good. Now, I'm going to go search to see what or who I can find. All right? Now, I want you to go back to
that cave and stay put.
>> Lily: No! No! No, simon, there's no way. - No! There's a lunatic running around this island. No, no, no, you're sticking right by
my side. I'm not letting you out of my sight.
Scene 2:
Location: The beach.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Lily: Look. You're not going anywhere without me. You're standing right by me, do you understand? I'm not waiting
anywhere alone.
>> Simon: Lily, we have just come from the cave, and there was no one there. All right? Now, look. I know you're upset and
frightened. I understand that, believe me. But you are not thinking clearly.
>> Lily: I'm not thinking clearly?
>> Simon: No.
>> Lily: I'm on an island in the middle of the ocean, far from civilization. There's a maniac roaming the island that has destroyed
our only real means of transportation. Yes, I'm not thinking clearly. I'm trying very desperately to hold it together.
>> Simon: All right. I know you are. I know you're doing your best here. But, lily, hysteria isn't going to help us at all. If there's
someone on this island --
>> Lily: "If," simon?
>> Simon: Yes.
>> Lily: "If"? "If"?
>> Simon: Yes, yes, if there's someone on this island, I need to fd him and find out what he's up to, if there are any more traps.
I need to have my wits about me. Okay? Now, I can't do thatf you're with me and I'm worrying about you. That's putting us both
in danger.
>> Lily: We're already in danger. Look around. - Look at that raft. Whoever did this is crazy. He's got a machete. No, we have
to stick together. There's no second-guessing it.
>> Simon: We have spent plenty of time alone on this island, and nothing has happened to either one of us. Nothing.
>> Lily: Well, maybe he just found us. Or maybe we just did something to upset him. Maybe he just likes watching us go crazy
or be frightened -- you win, okay?! I'm frightened! Now just back off!
>> Simon: Whoever it is, lily, is probably just as scared of us as we are of him. He's obviously hiding from us from us now as
well.
>> Lily: Come on, we have to do this together. Trust me, you cannot second guess a lunatic. Simon, I'm scared. This is a
nightmare for me.
>> Simon: I know, I know, I know, I know. I know, I understand how you're feeling. But just think logically, please. Lily, if this nut
wanted to kill you or me, he could have done it while you were alone in the bath or he could have slit our throats while we were
sleeping, but he didn't. We are both still here.
>> Lily: Wow, that's reassuring. Thanks so much.
>> Simon: I'm not -- I'm not rying to frighten you. Whoever is sharing this island with us has known we were here since day
one. He has had ample opportunities to harm us, and has chosen not to. Okay? If I can find him, then I can reasure him that
we mean him no harm as well.
>> Lily: How does our leaving affect his well-being?
>> Simon: I don't know. I have no idea. Maybe it's because we weren't going to take him with us.
>> Lily: But we didn't know that he existed. That's a fine way to say it, "hello. Thank you so much. I'm so sorry to see you
go."
>> Simon: I'm not going to know until I find him and get some answers. All right? Maybe we can all help each other get off this
bloody island.
>> Lily: I don't want to fight anymore.
>>Simon: All right. Good. Good. Now, I just want you to go back to the cave and stay put and hold tight. I'm going to go and
just look around, have a really quick look, and I will be back as soon as possible. Really. Trust me. I promise. Okay? Just -- just
go.
>> Lily: Simon -- if you don't come back, I'm going to kill you.
Scene 3:
Location: The beach.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND COOLLY
>> Coolly: Better get a padlock. The guy might be crazy! [ Lily whimpers ] ah, eh-eh. What's your hurry? You just got
here.
>> Lily: Please don't hurt me. Please. Who are you?
>> Coolly: Coolly. The name's coolly. Where's your boyfriend?
>> Lily: Oh, he's not my boyfriend. He's just -- he's just somebody that I was shipwrecked with. What do you want?
>> Coolly: Well, I gotta decide that, pretty lady. See, this island's private. It's mine. And you're trespassing. And I hate
trespassers.
Scene 4:
Location: Off the beach.
[Simon finds a beach hut.]
SIMON FRAISER
>> Simon: Well, well, well. The island flophouse. Yeah, I really want to meet the bloke that lives here. Look what Mr. Pack rat
tucked away. Wonder if it works. There's only one way to find out.
Scene 5:
Location: The beach.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND COOLLY
>> Coolly: I've been the only one on this island since 1976. Just me. All alone. No one to talk with. No one to play with. Just
me and the bugs and the rats and the snakes.
>> Lily: How -- how did you wind up here?
>> Coolly: Oh! Well, that's -- that's an exciting tale. See, I was running guns to el salvador. Making a pretty penny, too. But --
but -- but the coast guard seemed to think that that wasn't legal. So, we had us a real dramatic chase. Yes. I ran aground on a
reef about a mile out. That's when I became robinson crusoe. But -- it does get lonely sometimes. I miss -- company. Know
what I mean? Huh?
>> Lily: I'm sure that it gets -- I'm -- I'm sorry that you've been stuck here for such a long time. Maybe we can work together to
get back to the states. I have family. They have money.
>> Coolly: Oh! Well, you see, the only thing that's waiting for me stateside is prison. Now, this ain't exactly the riviera, but it sure
beats doing hard time. So, I got almost everything a man needs. I got food, water, shelter, the warm sun. I only miss one thing
-- I ain't had a woman in a long, long time. Yum, yum.
Scene 6:
Location: The beach.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND COOLLY
>> Coolly: Knock it off, girly! You play nice, and I'll make you a deal.
>> Lily: What kind of deal?
>> Coolly: You stay here, and make this island a paradise, and I'll let the aussie live.
>> Lily: You've been watching me, haven't you? You see that I'm terrible. I'm not easy to get along with. And I'm not good at
roughing it, trust me.
>> Coolly: But you do know how to do what I need, huh? And the way you look --
[ Lily groans ] mmm, honey, we could be real happy here. I'm not so bad once you get to know me. And I clean up real nice.
And I used to have quite a way with the ladies. [ Lily screams ]
[ Coolly yells ] don't make me angry! I'll hurt you. And I -- I don't want to hurt you. I just want us to make nice to each other.
[Off the beach, Simon hears Lily scream.]
SIMON FRAISER
>> Simon: Lily?
[Muffled screams ]
Scene 7:
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER AND COOLLY
>> Simon: Hey, lily, you'll never believe what I just found -- hey, whoa.
>> Coolly: Hello there, loverboy. We were just talking about you.
>> Simon: Hey, you take it easy, mate. You don't want to make any mistakes and hurt anybody.
>> Coolly: No. No.
>> Simon: I just saw a rescue crew. It's on its way to pick us up. We can all get out of here together. All right? You just let her
go, and we can discuss this, all right? [ Coolly laughing ]
>> Coolly: A rescue crew. Who the hell do you think you're playing with? - If there was a rescue coming, you two lovebirds
wouldn't have worked so damn hard to build that raft. Now, let's not start this friendship off with lies, mate. I don't like them.
>> Simon: You don't have to hold it that way. We're all friendly here. We don't want any trouble. Why don't you just let her go,
and we can talk about it.
>> Coolly: You're wasting my time. See, here's the deal. I keep the woman, and can you keep breathing.
>> Simon: See, that deal's not much to my liking. What else have you got?
>> Coolly: Oh, well -- how about this? Here's deal two. I keep her, and you die.
