Scene: Java
KATIE KASNOFF, HENRY COLEMAN
>> Katie: How could you do this to me? You know better than anyone how badly I need for Simon to be caught.
>> Henry: Katie, slow down. Slow down.
>> Katie: You know where he is! And not only did you not tell me, but you're helping him escape?
>> Henry: Whoa! Whoa, where did you get that from?
>> Katie: I connected the lies.
>> Henry: What lies?
>> Katie: You were supposed to be working this morning, remember? You were supposed to be dusting off your uniform, remember? Well, where the hell is it? Why aren't you wearing it?
>> Henry: I got some kind of grease stain on the jacket. I don't know what it was. Mayonnaise or something like that. And I couldn't go to work that way, and so I just wore my street clothes.
>> Katie: Bull.
>> Henry: You know what? The passenger actually liked it. I think some people are into the sort of casual wear.
>> Katie: Henry, you forget that I know you. When I went up to your suite, you were acting like a nutjob. I knew something was wrong. And then when I see you with Carly -- what was she doing, meeting you here?
>> Henry: I -- I found a vase that she'd been looking for.
>> Katie: Excuse me?
>> Henry: A vase. A vase. Something for the model apartment that she and Simon had been working on in that building.
>> Katie: Oh, right. Makes perfect sense that with her lover on the run and this cop sniffing around, she would be suddenly concerned about some stupid vase.
>> Henry: Maybe it was a chance for her to get away from her problems for a few minutes, did ever think about that?
>> Katie: Mm. What was the brochure about?
>> Henry: The brochure?
>> Katie: The one you so accidentally dropped so she could pick it up. What did you put in it, Henry? Was it your room key? Is that where you're hiding Simon?
>> Henry: You need to go home and you need to get some sleep.
>> Katie: How could you do it? How could my best friend, the one person that I trust more than anyone in this world, how could you help the man that nearly ruined my life?
Scene 2:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Carly Snyder Home
SIMON FRASIER, CARLY SNYDER
>> Carly: Whatever you have to say, maybe it should wait till later, and not over the phone.
>> Simon: No, if I wait, I'll lose my nerve and I can't afford that. Not this time.
>> Carly: Okay. All right, then go ahead and say what you want to say. And if you lost your place, you were telling me that you love me.
>> Simon: I do.
>> Carly: I love you, too. And so now that you've got that straight, are you going to tell me where you are?
>> Simon: No. No, now I'm going to say good-bye.
>> Carly: Simon, Simon, don't hang up! If you love me, you can't say good-bye.
>> Simon: Carly, that's why I have to. Sweetheart, I've got to get out of town before I drag you deeper into this mess.
>> Carly: Where will you go?
>> Simon: I'm not telling you. Look, if the cops come after you and you say you don't know, then they're going to have to believe you, because you're telling the truth.
>> Carly: I don't care about the police. I care about you. I want to be sure that you're safe.
>> Simon: I'll be fine. Man, I've been on the run half my adult life.
>> Carly: That's not good enough. I need to know where you'll be.
>> Simon: Back home.
>> Carly: You going to swim? Because I'm sure you couldn't have grabbed enough cash when you left your suite. And can't use your credit-card. I'm sure Jack has tagged yours and mine both.
>> Simon: Can you not worry about me, please? I'll land on my feet. I always do.
>> Carly: Wait. Simon, you gave me that box, remember? I have your box. It has the cash from the sale of the jewels in it.
>> Simon: And a couple of passports could be useful.
>> Carly: Tell me where you are.
>> Simon: No! No. Carly, please, come on. Don't ask me to do that. I can't make you take that risk.
>> Carly: Tell me where you are, Simon, and I'll meet you there. It may take me a little while to get rid of this surveillance, but I'll show up eventually.
>> Simon: Dammit, Carly, no. Please. Look, I'm sorry, and we can't put this off any longer. It's time to say good-bye.
>> Carly: Please, just one more minute.
>> Simon: It's not forever.
>> Carly: Promise me that's true.
>> Simon: We'll make it true. I don't know when I'm going to see you again, but I promise you, I will see you again. Okay? In the meantime, can you please promise me to stay out of trouble?
>> Carly: Okay. You take care of yourself.
>> Simon: I'll take care of myself for you. Deal?
>> Carly: Deal.
>> Simon: Carly?
>> Carly: Yes?
>> Simon: You're an absolutely incredible person. I love you.
>> Carly: I love you too.
[ Dial tone ] Simon? Si --
Scene 3:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Java
KATIE KASNOFF, HENRY COLEMAN
>> Henry: Katie, Katie, I was never helping Simon. That's all in your beautiful little head.
>> Katie: Then why are you doing that thing you do when you lie?
>> Henry: I am not lying! I'm just trying to get you to stop obsessing about Simon Frasier. It is destroying you. Would you please stop it?
>> Katie: You didn't feel that way when you helped me break into Carly's to get the diamond.
>> Henry: I was dragged into there, okay? I still have the bruises from your nails.
>> Katie: Well, it didn't stop you from going along with it.
>> Henry: That was before I knew there was no hope of saving your marriage! Mike has gone to the lawyer. He is going through with the divorce. Putting Simon behind bars is not going to stop what is already in motion.
>> Katie: Even if that is true, which I don't believe it is, Simon needs to pay for grand theft. He has a debt to society. If you help him, then you are letting society down big time.
>> Henry: Sorry, sweetheart, this subject is closed.
>> Katie: I thought you loved me.
>> Henry: Oh, honey, I do love you. I always have and I always will.
[Katie phones Jack ]
>> Katie: Hi, it's me. I need you to meet me at Java right away.
Scene 4:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Towers Hotel Room
SIMON FRASIER, HENRY COLEMAN
>> Henry: Please, God, make sure no one saw me.
>> Simon: It's a little late for prayers.
>> Henry: Huh? Don't knock it. I put forty dollars on Philly Filly and she won by three lengths. If that's not divine intervention, I don't know what is. Did something happen while I was gone?
>> Simon: Well, it's done. I said good-bye to Carly.
>> Henry: Gee, that's got to be rough.
>> Simon: What the hell are you doing?
>> Henry: Katie knows you're up here. She's probably on her way up here with Jack Snyder.
>> Simon: What did I do to Katie to make her go after me with such vengeance?
>> Henry: Oh, I don't know. Maybe that you had sex with her and that destroyed her marriage? Ruined her life? You know.
>> Simon: At least I didn't sell her up the river the way you did me.
>> Henry: Okay, I did a bad thing and I'm trying to make up for it. And make sure you don't get caught. Hop in.
[ Henry presents Simon with a laundry cart. ]
>> Simon: No way!
Scene 5:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Java
KATIE KASNOFF, JACK SNYDER
>> Katie: I know when Henry's lying and every word out of his mouth screamed lie.
>> Jack: You honestly think that he's committed to helping Simon escape?
>> Katie: I wouldn't be surprised if Simon was hiding up in his hotel room right now. And Carly's part of it somehow.
>> Jack: I just checked with the guy I posted to watch her. He said she's safe and sound at the house.
>> Katie: She was here earlier, meeting with Henry.
>> Jack: How long ago?
>> Katie: A couple hours. He said he was giving her information about a vase.
>> Jack: A what?
>> Katie: I know. It sounded stupid to me too. But that didn't stop him from trying to convince me that he was trying to help her decorate some model apartment or something. He was desperate to throw me off, but I had already seen too much.
>> Jack: What did you see, exactly?
>> Katie: He dropped a brochure for her to pick up. It had something in it. If it wasn't his hotel room key, it was message from Simon.
>> Jack: I don't get it. Henry's the one who got the jeweler to rat Simon out.
>> Katie: I know.
>> Jack: So if he was willing to put the final nail in Simon's coffin, why turn around so quickly and try to help him?
>> Katie: Guilt.
>> Jack: Henry?
>> Katie: Yeah, it's one of his biggest weaknesses. Simon knows that and I'm sure he's working it to the max. He hooked Henry the way he probably hooked Carly.
>> Jack: No, Carly's not stupid.
>> Katie: Jack come on, she hasn't played it smart up until this point. Why would she come meet Henry? Look, if I'm wrong about this, I promise you I will never bother you again. But if I'm right about this and those two are helping Simon escape the police --
>> Jack: We're wasting time.
Scene 6:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Java
CARLY SNYDER, COP
[ Carly phones Henry ]
>> Carly: Henry, I need you to meet me at your room at the Lakeview. I have something for our friend, and I need your help. But it has to happen fast. I'll be there in 15 minutes. Okay, I hope you can be there too. It's cold out here, huh?
>> Undercover cop: No, ma'am.
>> Carly: I just have to run a couple of errands, if you want to go inside and keep warm, that's fine by me.
>> Undercover cop: No, ma'am. I'll follow you.
>> Carly: Okay, suit yourself. You know what? Why don't we save gas and go together?
Scene 7:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Towers Hotel Hallway/Room
KATIE KASNOFF, JACK SNYDER, LISA GRIMALDI
>> Katie: We gotta wait for Lisa to get here with the pass key? If you say anything, you'll tip them off and they'll get away!
>> Jack: Give me a break. Henry, open the door and step out into the hallway, please. Henry?
>> Katie: I don't hear anything.
>> Lisa: Okay, all right.
>> Jack: Do you have the key?
>> Lisa: I do, but first the search warrant first.
>> Jack: Lisa, I'm sorry.
>> Lisa: That's okay. Here you go. I hope he's not having some -- pardon me. Hello? Gotta take this call.
>> Katie: Thank you.
>> Jack: Damn it!
>> Katie: I don't get it. I was sure he was here.
>> Jack: Maybe he was.
>> Katie: Or maybe I scared Henry so much that he took Simon to a safer place.
>> Jack: If that's the case, he better be prepared to join him. Or face charges of aiding and abetting a fugitive.
>> Katie: No, Jack, don't be too hard on him. If Henry was helping, it's just because Simon manipulated him.
>> Jack: Manipulated or not, just like Carly, if Henry's helping Simon, he's going to pay for it.
>> Katie: Well, I don't see any sign of Simon. I mean, maybe Henry is not helping him. Maybe I was wrong.
>> Jack: Katie.
>> Katie: I am. Let's go, this is a waste of time.
>> Jack: Is it?
Scene 8:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Terrace Hotel Hallway
SIMON FRASIER, HENRY COLEMAN
>> Simon: Where the hell are we going?
>> Henry: You'll find out when we get there. Now sit down and shut up!
Scene 9:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Towers Hotel Lounge
CARLY SNYDER, LISA GRIMALDI, COP
>> Lisa: Hiya, honey. I hear you wanted to see me. So, what's up?
>> Carly: Well, I need a job.
>> Lisa: Oh, Carly, I'm sorry, I have all the dishwashers I could use right now.
>> Carly: No, no, I'm serious, Lisa. I need to get back to work and I have a really great design portfolio now. In case you were thinking of maybe doing some redecorating here at the hotel.
>> Lisa: Oh, well, I really haven't thought about that. I am really busy. I'm having the red-hat ladies -- you know, the luncheon today. Why don't you drop by one day next week and we'll talk? Okay?
>> Carly: I can't drop by next week.
>> Lisa: Carly, what's going on? Are you in some kind of terrible trouble? I bet you are. Ever since you went into business with that Simon Frasier --
>> Carly: No, no, I'm not in trouble. I'm starting a new business and I need a little help, you know, especially if it comes with a paycheck.
>> Lisa: Okay. Let's hear your pitch.
>> Carly: Great, all right. Well I can't wait to tell you my ideas. I'm just going to run to the ladies' room and freshen up --
>> Lisa: No, no, wait, Carly, I'm a busy person I told you how busy I am. I don't have time for you to go running off to the restroom --
>> Carly: Lisa, I will be back before you even notice I'm gone.
>> Undercover cop: Where do you think you're going?
>> Carly: Well, officer, I'm gonna go and use the little girls room.
>> Undercover cop: Detective Snyder told me to not let you get out of my sight.
>> Carly: Right, well I'm sure that even Jack would make an exception in this case. A lady does deserve her privacy, right? Come on! What am I going to do, climb out the window? I can't go anywhere. You drove me here, remember?
[ Carly sneaks away ]
Scene 10:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Towers Hotel Room
KATIE KASNOFF, JACK SNYDER
>> Jack: Katie, you were married to Henry. Do you happen to know Henry's access code?
>> Katie: You mean to get his messages?
>> Jack: Yes, to get his messages.
>> Katie: No, I don't.
>> Jack: Didn't he have a nickname for you, or something?
>> Katie: Um, I don't know, we called each other a lot of things.
>> Jack: This is something affectionate and I know I've heard it before. Um, dimples? Or Bubbles? Bubbles!
>> Katie: Oh that nickname.
>> Jack: Bingo.
>> Katie: What, what? What is it?
>> Jack: It's Carly.
Scene 11:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Towers Hotel Lounge
KATIE KASNOFF, HENRY COLEMAN
>> Katie: Oh, thank God! Hey, where are you going?
>> Henry: Well, if you really must know -- you know what, on second thought, why should you?
>> Katie: No, no Henry! You can't go up there!
Scene 12:
Location: Oakdale
Scene: Lakeview Towers Hotel Room
CARLY SNYDER, JACK SNYDER
>> Carly: Henry? Henry? Did you get my message? Jack, what are you doing here?
>> Jack: Expecting Henry? Or maybe Simon? I'm going to have to take a look inside your bag.
[ Jack finds the passport and money ]
>> Carly: What happens now?
>> Jack: The last thing I ever wanted. Carly Snyder, you're under arrest for aiding and abetting a fugitive. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say, can and will be used against you in a court of law.
