MARCH 7, 2000 (TU)
Scene 1:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.

HOLDEN SNYDER ALONE.
[Holden hears something from the hallway.]
>> Holden: Who are you and what are you doing in my house?!
Scene 2:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.
HOLDEN SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Holden: What's your story? What're you after?
>> Simon: If you just let me go, I'll explain --
>> Holden: Explain now! Are you the one who's stalking Katie peretti?
>> Simon: Who's Katie? It's Lily, your wife.
>> Holden: What does my wife have to do with this?
LILY WALSH SNYDER ENTERS.
>> Lily: Holden! Holden, stop it!
>> Holden: This guy broke into our house --
>> Lily: No, no, no, he didn't! He didn't! He's supposed to be here! Simon's the architect I told you about!
Scene 3:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.
LILY WALSH SNYDER, HOLDEN SNYDER, AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: You remember the man I told you about? The one that lost those old letters? He drew up the sketches for us for the family room. Remember?
>> Holden: Yeah, I remember. What's he doing here now?
>> Lily: He's working for us. I hired him to oversee the project.
>> Holden: Is that so?
>> Simon: Look, I'm sorry if I frightened you, mr. Snyder.
>> Holden: How did you get in?
>> Lily: He's got a key.
>> Holden: Why does an architect need a key to our house?
>> Lily: Because he has an appointment with a contractor later on, because I promised Luke and faith I'd take them to the puppet show, and I wanted to make sure that he could get into the house on his own.
>> Simon: Look, if I knew it would be such a problem, I certainly would have waited --
>> Lily: This is my fault. This my fault. I should have warned Holden.
>> Holden: Yeah. That would have been a good idea.
>> Lily: Then we wouldn't have risked a lawsuit. Are you okay?
>> Simon: I'm perfectly fine. I would have done the same thing if I was in your shoes, Mr. Snyder. I would have been a lot less gracious.
>> Lily: Why don't we start from scratch, shall we? Simon Frasier, architect, this is my husband, Holden Snyder.
>> Simon: Although you probably had me pegged as Simon Frasier, burglar. Or worse. After all, you have a wife and small children. That's just cause to be concerned about a stranger wandering about.
>> Holden: Yes, it is. Especially given the recent developments at the tv studio that I manage.
>> Simon: You thought I was somebody in particular?
>> Holden: We're trying to nail someone who's been harassing one of my employees. I really don't think it's a good idea to be handing out keys to strangers.
>> Lily: He's not a stranger. He's working for us.
>> Simon: Yeah, well, speaking of work, I'd better get out to the car, make sure I've got everything I need.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND HOLDEN SNYDER
>> Holden: What were you thinking?
>> Lily: He's not a criminal, Holden.
>> Holden: Oh, and you have proof of that?
>> Lily: He's an architect. Remember, you loved his sketches.
>> Holden: Oh, okay, so he made some pretty pictures, and he lost some letters down at the pond. You have no idea who this guy is, or what he might be after!
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: So, are you ready to get to work?
>> Simon: I don't know. Maybe working here isn't such a good idea after all.
Scene 4:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Lily: Everything's fine, really. I want you to work on the room. I do.
>> Simon: Yeah, but does your husband want me here? He told you to fire me, didn't he?
>> Lily: No. He didn't. And I want you to finish the job.
>> Simon: That's good. It's just your excitement about this family room is so contagious. With your vision and my expertise, I know we can create something wonderful. But if your husband is against it --
>> Lily: He's not, he's not.
>> Simon: He looked like he wanted to kill me. Come on.
>> Lily: He's just been busy. He's been busy, and I haven't had a chance to tell him about giving you the key, and that you were starting early, and I assumed that he would understand.
>> Simon: But he doesn't.
>> Lily: We -- Holden and I -- we're equal partners in our marriage. You know, we work on things together -- we work on things separately. This is my project. So I decide who designs it and how. It's my decision. And Holden will respect my decision.
>> Simon: I don't see why he shouldn't. You both liked my sketches. And, I mean, once I finish the job --
>> Lily: You know something, though, this has happened kind of fast. And I think it would be a good idea to get some references. You have to admit that Holden has a point. I barely know you.
Scene5:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER
>> Simon: If you want references, I've got plenty. I've worked all over australia, on private homes, office buildings. Look, don't take my word for it. I'll send out for my portfolio.
>> Lily: I've seen your sketches, and I loved them. So does Holden.
>> Simon: Precisely. And let's be straight with one another. This has got nothing to do with my ability as an architect. You and your husband are worried about the type of person I am, yeah? If I'm to be trusted.
>> Lily: It's not that we're worried, exactly.
>> Simon: Look, really, I don't blame you. With all the phonies and con artists out there trying to take advantage of the few decent, trusting people who still exist --
>> Lily: I am not saying that you are a con artist. I'm just saying that I barely know you.
>> Simon: You know that I'm a man who places family above everything.
>> Lily: Luke responds to that. He likes you very much.
>> Simon: Yeah, well, maybe he can have a word with his father.
>> Lily: Simon, please.
>> Simon: Lily, I just thought we got along in a way where references wouldn't be needed. That's why I wanted to design your family room. Maybe I was wrong.
>> Lily: No, no. I felt the connection between us right away, with your great grandfather's story, and the way you envisioned this room. I responded to all of that.
>> Simon: Thank you.
>> Lily: But the problem is, my husband, Holden, does not feel the same connection with you, and this is also his home, so I am going to need those references. Okay?
[Lily leaves the room.]
[Simon expresses frustration.]
Scene 6:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.
SIMON FRAISER ALONE.
>> Simon (talking aloud to himself): References - how do I get her bloody references?
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND LUCIANO (LUKE) GRIMALDI
>> Luke: When are we leaving, mommy?
>> Lily: As soon as I say something to Simon.
LILY WALSH SNYDER, LUCIANO (LUKE) GRIMALDI, AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Luke: Hi, Simon.
>> Simon: Hey, Lukie! How are you, pal?
>> Lily: He's taking the morning off. We're going to see a puppet show in town.
>> Simon: Yeah? If you like puppet shows, I'll build you a puppet stage right here.
>> Luke: Can I help you?
>> Simon: Well, yeah, if you can fit it into your schedule. You see over there, in that corner? That spot is reserved for the biggest Christmas tree in the world.
>> Luke: How will you do all that, magic?
>> Simon: I don't know about magic.
>> Luke: Cool!
>> Simon: It's all yours. Look!
>> Lily: You can take that. He can have that. You know what? We don't want to keep the puppet show waiting. Why don't you go get your coat on, okay?
>> Luke: Okay.
>> Lily: All right. We'll see you later.
>> Simon: See you, Luke.
[Luke happily toddles out of the room.]
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Simon: He is a wonderful kid.
>> Lily: Yeah, he is. You know, Holden hasn't had a lot of time to do projects with him lately.
>> Simon: Well, I will have plenty for him to do. If I'm still here.
>> Lily: I hope that you decide to continue with the project. I do.
>> Simon: If that's what you want.
>> Lily: I am convinced more than ever that you are the man for the job.
>> Simon: Okay. And I can get plenty of references.
>> Lily: Yeah, I think it's best. I do. For Holden's sake.
>> Simon: Sure.
>> Lily: So, how soon can you get them?
>> Simon: Uh, they'll take a few days to come from Australia. But, if it's all right, I am itching to get this project under way.
>> Lily: I don't see why you can't get started right away.
>> Simon: That is music to my ears.
>> Lily: Great. Well, okay. I should go check on the kids.
>> Simon: Sure.
[Lily closes the door when she leaves the room.]
>> Simon: Figure out those references, Simon, and you're in.
Scene 7:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.
LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER
>> Lily: We're leaving. Will we see you later?
>> Simon: Yeah. Yeah, I have a feeling we'll be seeing a whole lot more of each other.
>> Lily: I'm glad we worked things out.
>> Simon: So am I. Hey, have fun.
>> Lily: Thanks. Okay.
>> Simon: See you later.
SIMON FRASIER ALONE.
Simon looks in a bag of his. A black and white Victorian photo of a woman that looks exactly like Lily is in the photo portrait. Simon looks at the door and then back at the photo.
