EPISODE # 3
MARCH 1, 2000 (W)

Scene 1:
Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Location: The living room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER (BY PHONE).

[Phone rings.] >> Lily: Please tell me that you're on your way.
>> Simon: Yeah, well, actually, I am. Except for the windows. See, I'm having trouble deciding between the palladian and the bay. See, the palladian's a bit pretentious, but I think the dimensions of your house can handle it. But, you know, we can decide on that together.
>> Lily: Who is this?
>> Simon: I'm sorry. From the way you answered, I thought you were psychic. It's Simon Frasier.
>> Lily: I was expecting a phone call from my husband.
>> Simon: Right. Well, would an aussie who holds your future in his hands do?
>> Lily: Your what?
>> Simon: I'm sorry, that was too bold. Look, I was inspired, what can I say?
>> Lily: Inspired?
>> Simon: Yeah, inspired by -- your space. See, I have been sitting here and drawing for hours. And I think I'm holding the answer to your family room problems. I can swing by and show you the sketches if that's okay.
>> Lily: Now?
>> Simon: What am I thinking? I'm sorry, I didn't realize the hour. You're probably knee-deep in family time. I didn't mean to disturb you.
>> Lily: No, no, you're not disturbing me. My kids are sleeping, and my husband, he was taken away on an emergency, so --
>> Simon: Yeah, well, wait until you see what I've done. I started thinking about what you said, about bringing the outside in. Now, all that natural light, the big oak tree at the front --
>> Lily: Right, the one we don't want to remove if we build out.
>> Simon: Well, I think you'll be satisfied with the dimensions. But if not, I have designed this skylight with a special flexible porthole for the oak, so the kids can climb on a real tree inside. How does that sound?
>> Lily: Very frank lloyd wright meets swiss family robinson.
>> Simon: Swiss family who?
>> Lily: Never mind.
>> Simon: And I can't wait to show you my idea for the south-facing wall.
>> Lily: Why don't you just come on over? You've gotten me so excited here, I want to see everything.
>> Simon: Great. All right, I'll see you soon.

Scene 2:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: The living room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRAISER

>> Lily: Come on in. I hope you like red hots.
>> Simon: Yeah, who doesn't?
>> Lily: You have no idea what they are, do you?
>> Simon: A promiscuous carrot top? Well, that's we call them in australia, anyway.
>> Lily: Some things just don't translate. No, no, no, no. These are hot dogs, Mabel's famous hot dogs. And they're the best in the midwest. Have you had dinner? I hope you haven't.
>> Simon: No, no, no. Been too busy sketching.
>> Lily: Great, then you can have dinner with me.
>> Simon: Fantastic. Do you mind if I lay these out, show you properly?
>> Lily: No, go ahead. You want a beer?
>> Simon: Yeah, love one. All righty.
>> Lily: You did those?
>> Simon: Yeah, guilty as charged.
>> Lily: May I see that one?
>> Simon: Yeah.
>> Lily: You're a liar.

Scene 3:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: The living room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: Look at this.
>> Simon: "Architecture today." Yeah?
>> Lily: Look at the page that I marked off.
>> Simon: All right.
>> Lily: Look at it! That's my dream room. It's almost identical to the sketches. I've been carrying this magazine around with me ever since I got it. I've been walking through the construction site. You can not have done this by yourself, not alone.
>> Simon: Well, look, I'm afraid I did.
>> Lily: This is like a sign from the great beyond. How do I make that and that into a reality?
>> Simon: I don't know. With a talented, yet bossy architect at the helm?
>> Lily: You?
>> Simon: Yeah, I'll oversee the entire renovation.
>> Lily: No, I could not ask you to stay in Oakdale for that.
>> Simon: Oh, come on, it's not like I'm in the middle of any pressing project. I'm traveling around the country, remember?
>> Lily: But staying here to work would defeat the whole purpose of your trip?
>> Simon: This is not work. This is fun. And besides, it's fairly standard for a new architect to see his renderings through to completion.
>> Lily: I have to talk it over with my husband.
>> Simon: Yeah. Yeah, by all means. I just hope I'm not called away, sort of, while you make a decision.
>> Lily: Wait, called away? You just said that you were traveling.
>> Simon: Sure, that's my intention, but I do have a few things pending, that's all. And besides, it would be a shame to lose out on this opportunity, especially seeing as we are so astonishingly in sync.

Scene 4:

Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: The living room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: So, if you undertake this project, what will it cost me?
>> Simon: Well, I'll work up an estimate for you.
>> Lily: Sounds good.
>> Simon: And, if you do decide this is something you want to do, we can start straight away.
>> Lily: May I keep the sketches?
>> Simon: Absolutely. As your reward for finding my great-grandfather's letters for me.
>> Lily: We ate all the red-hots.
>> Simon: Whoa. Hey, my apologies to your husband for making such a pig of myself.
>> Lily: My husband -- will be home very soon. I would love for you to stay. Stay -- I want you to meet him.
>> Simon: Yeah, you know, I would love to. Unfortunately, I've got a conference call to make to Sydney, and I'm afraid I have to get back.
>> Lily: Well, I -- I don't want to keep you. But -- thank you for the sketches. They're inspired.
>> Simon: They were. And thank you for introducing me to red-hots. I am now one of Mabel's solid fans.

Scene 5:

Scene: Foyer.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER.
