EPISODE #28
APRIL 26, 2000

Scene 1:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Living room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER ON A LAPTOP COMPUTER.

>> Lily: No mail? Maybe redhead's away from her computer. Maybe she's busy. Maybe her entire life doesn't revolve around who is in that photograph.

[Doorbell rings.]

Scene: Foyer.

SIMON FRAISER AND LUKE GRIMALDI (ON HIS BACK) ENTERS.

[Lily opens the front door.]

>> Lily: Simon. Luke?
>> Simon: I found this little guy wandering around. I thought I would drop him back.
>> Lily: I thought you were upstairs in your room.
>> Simon: No harm done. Home safe and sound.
>> Lily: Simon? Simon. Do you know what it's like to make a terrible, unforgiveable mistake?

[Lily glances over at her laptop computer, with the black and white "Victorian" Lily scanned photograph on the screen.]

Scene 2:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Living room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER, LUKE GRIMALDI, AND SIMON FRAISER.

>> Simon: A terrible, unforgiveable mistake? What do you mean? What mistake?
>> Luke: Mommy.
>> Lily: Hey, you know you're not supposed to go outside by yourself. Don't you?
>> Luke: I'm sorry, mommy. Are you mad at me?
>> Lily: No, I'm not mad at you. I'm just upset that you think you can go outside by yourself. You're not you -- allowed to do that.
>> Luke: Okay.
>> Lily: You stay upstairs until I come up. I'll be a minute.
>> Simon: Lily, there's something different about you today. What's up?
>> Lily: I'm just -- I'm so ashamed.
>> Simon: Before what?
>> Lily: Luke that luke could get out of the house and I didn't realize it. I would have realized if I wasn't researching my family history. I'm delving into my family's past and ignoring the beautiful family I have right here in front of me because you showed me that photograph.
>> Simon: I hardly think they're going to take the kids away and lock you up.
>> Lily: Thank you for bringing luke back here. I don't know what I would have done if something had happened to him.
>> Simon: Nothing did. It was a harmless stroll across the lawn.
>> Lily: What happens the next time? I have learned my lesson. I have to put an end to this. I'm giving up the search. It has to end. Right now.

Scene 3:

>>Lily: Look, wait, wait, wait. Make up the story about being an architect. Turns out to be a lie to cover your true quest to find your great grandfather's beloved. I have to admit, I got caught up in it too.
>> Simon: There's nothing wrong with that.
>> Lily: Maybe not. But I cannot afford to go across the world. Maybe you can. Looking for clues, following your heart. I have a family here. I have my children and my husband. I have obligations to them. And to my friends and my family. So thank you. Thank you so much for introducing me to your great grandfather simon and his beloved. But it's time for me to move on with my life.
>> Simon: Lily, you are lying.
>> Lily: Lying? What would I be lying about?
>> Simon: I've got to know you well enough over the last month to know that you are many incredible things, but you are not a quitter.
>> Lily: There's always a first time.
>> Simon: No. No, no, no. I watched your face when you read the letters. They moved you. Don't try and convince me you are not a romantic or you don't care because you do care. You want to know who that woman is in the photo and what happened to her as much as I do.
>> Lily: Of course I do. But the answers to those questions are not going to change the way I live my life. I will make up a story about who that woman is and her resemblance to me. The same way did I with the letters before you came to town.
>> Simon: Yeah, can you do that. Sure you can. But the fiction is not the same. Is it?
>> Lily: I have a wonderful life. I have a husband that I adore. I have two children who are growing up way, way too fast. And all this time I'm spending going into my past, it's taking me away from them. Maybe, if you had some solid leads to answer my questions.
>> Simon: I wish I did.
>> Lily: Maybe it's time to pack it in.
>> Simon: Lily, I don't believe you.

Scene 4:

>> Simon: So without warning, completely out of the blue, you decided to give up your search?
>>Lily: What's so odd about that?
>> Simon: I find it unbelievable you would abandon this personal quest.
>> Lily: That's why I have to. This has become way too personal.
>> Simon: You don't want to know how this woman fits into your family? I find that hard to fathom.
>> Lily: Maybe you're right. Maybe it will drive me crazy for a few days. There's one thing I know. If I do continue, this is going to cause more pain for my family. I can't do that to them. You understand?
>> Simon: I wish I did.
>> Lily: Maybe lucinda is right. It's best to keep the past in the past.
>> Simon: So there is no way I can change your mind?
>> Lily: No. No. But thank you. Thank you for everything you've done for me and for my family. But it's time for us to go on with our lives and go our separate ways.
>> Simon: So that's it? Okay. Thank you for everything.
>> Lily: Good-bye, simon.
>> Simon: Good-bye.

Scene 5:

Lily at computer

>>Lily: Please. Please. Incoming mail, please. No mail. Redhead, where are you? Come on. Come on. I've got to have some mail. Okay. Dear redhead, I'm still dying to know the identity of the woman in the photo. Please respond as soon as possible.
Incoming mail

>> Lily, wait, I'm here. Don't go. Don't go!
