EPISODE # 14
MARCH 30, 2000 (M)

Scene 1:
Unfinished family room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Simon: Ah, looks like the family tree sprouted a few extra branches.
>> Lily: No, I just found a few more pictures.
>> Simon: You are a woman obsessed.
>> Lily: Nope, just determined.
>> Simon: Yeah, determined to keep us busy for a very long time.
>> Lily: Yes, yes, so dig in. There's plenty to go around. You'll recognize a lot of those faces.

LILY WALSH SNYDER, HOLDEN SNYDER, AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Holden: Lily --
>> Lily: Hey.
>> Simon: Hey.
>> Lily: Are you back from Chris' arraignment already? How did it go?
>> Holden: Margo recommended to the court that they deny him bail.
>> Lily: He's in jail?
>> Holden: Mm-hmm.
>> Lily: How's Abigail taking it?
>> Holden: Well, she swears that he's innocent and she's trying to be brave. It's enough to make an adult even want to run away, I'll tell you that.
>> Lily: You don't think that she'll do that again?
>> Holden: I was thinking that maybe we should just make one big family exodus. Just all of us -- just go away.
>> Lily: You want to drop everything and run away?
>> Holden: Well, not just to anywhere -- to Paris. Tonight, tomorrow.
>> Lily: Tomorrow? Wait a minute, have you lost your mind?
>> Holden: No, I have not lost my mind. Abigail's parents are in Paris for the week. She really needs to see them, and you and I, we really -- we really need to spend some time together. So, what do you say?
>> Holden [Speaking with French accent.]: It is a limited time offer, madame.
>> Lily: Oui, oui. That's wonderful. When do we leave?

Scene 2:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER, HOLDEN SNYDER, AND A NEARBY SIMON FRASIER.

>> Holden: You know what? This is our second chance at a honeymoon. I missed the last trip to hawaii. And who cares if Simon's here when we get back or not. He and the contractors can work, or the contractors can work without him. What's the difference? Besides, he'd probably feel better if we got out of his hair for awhile.
>> Lily: There's just a lot of arrangements that I need to make before we even think about running off somewhere.
>> Holden: Well, then don't think about it. We'll just do it. We'll hop on the plane and we'll go. We're going to find a nice, little hotel room with room service and no obligations except each other.
>> Lily: What about Abigail, Holden? She's the reason that you're going to Paris. You need to be there for her.
>> Holden: Yeah, but I want you to be with me.
>> Lily: You won't even know that I'm there. I mean, come on, this reunion with her parents, it might not be very easy -- with Molly's accident and Chris' and Molly's affair coming to light and the stalker. No, Abigail needs you. She needs all of your attention.
>> Holden: Okay, what about you?
>> Lily: I've learned to become very patient -- because of this. How much we love each other, forever. And we will have our second honeymoon when we can concentrate just on each other.
>> Holden: You'd do that?
>> Lily: I'll hold you to it. This trip to Paris should be for you and your daughter.
>> Holden: All right. It doesn't mean I have to like it, though. I'm disappointed.
>> Lily: Oh, you can show me how much later. But right now, I need to book a flight -- two seats -- to Paris.
>> Holden: Okay. I'll go tell Abigail the news. I love you.
>> Lily: I love you, too.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Simon: Hey, I'm sorry about your trip. But anyway, I think Paris is highly overrated.
>> Lily: It's not Paris that I wanted. It's Holden.
>> Simon: Yeah, I know. But just think, when he returns, he'll have a spectacular new room, and when he unveils that portrait of you on his birthday, staying here would have been well worth it.
>> Lily: Paris will keep.

Scene 3:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.

SIMON FRASIER ALONE.

>> Simon: All right. Okay, come to Simon. Know you're here somewhere.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: All right, back to the drawing board. Where were we?
>> Simon: This box here, I think.
>> Lily: Find anything inspiring while I was gone?
>> Simon: No, not as yet. But I'm sure something will jump out at us before too long.
[Spark and then a slow smoldering on a plyboard that displays Lily's family photos in the unfinished family room.]

Scene 4:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: I love family photographs. Everyone posed and dressed to the nines, or caught completely off-guard. The best of times when everyone's celebrating and happy. One moment captured, one momentú preserved to be passed along like a little secret. This is how we are. This is what makes us happy. This is what keeps us together.
>> Simon: And when Holden and Abigail return, you'll have another priceless gift to share with them.
>> Lily: This is it. This is my life -- all the best moments and memories right here. It's amazing, isn't it, how things happen for a reason.
>> Simon: How do you mean?
>> Lily: Here I am walking in the middle of winter and I happen upon this packet of letters and I just have to read some of them. I put an ad in the newspaper and this architect shows up at my doorstep, out of the blue. Flash forward to this new family room being built.
>> Simon: And don't forget, a breathtaking portrait which should hang -- right over here.
>> Lily: Oh, I love that.
>> Simon: You know, I agree, it is -- it is amazing how, you know, people's paths can cross at precisely the right time and they find unexpected inspiration.
>> Lily: I was just thinking the same thing.

Scene 5:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Unfinished family room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: See, that's the way it was for Holden and me. Our paths crossed once, then twice, and our lives were changed forever.
>> Simon: Are you all right?
>> Lily: I think it just hit me how much I'm going to miss him.
>> Simon: Yeah, I know. Just think with Holden and Abigail gone how much time you're going to have to pose and arrange the archives of your several families into a very comprehensive family tree. And I saw that.
>> Lily: Sorry. The carpenters are starting to mix with the snyders.
[ Kids laughing ]
>> Simon: If I'm not deceived, I think I hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet.
>> Lily: Yeah, I should relieve the baby-sitter so I can calm them down before bed.
>> Simon: Bribe them. Tell them about all the fantastic gifts that their father will bring from Paris.
>> Lily: So, I fill their heads with visions of toys and bon-bons so they'll never go to sleep.
>> Simon: Yeah, all right, you're right. Scratch the idea. You need all your energy for tomorrow. Those two boxes there, that's at least, ooh, two days' work. And you're not sorting when you're posing.
>> Lily: I'll see you tomorrow.
>> Simon: Bright and early.
>> Lily: I'll call you, don't call me.
>> Simon: Yeah, sure. Good night, Lily.
>> Lily: Good night.

[Simon stands at the doorway to the unfinished family room at the hallway.]

[View of a little flame starting in the electrical hookup.]

Scene 6:
Location: Lily Walsh Snyder's mansion.
Scene: Living room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND LUCIANO (LUKE).

>> Lily: Okay, you can't put off bed much longer. Did you pick a book?
>> Luke: This one.
>> Lily: Okay. Now, you're going to help me with faith, aren't you?
>> Luke: Sure, mommy.
>> Lily: All right. Now, look, daddy's going away, but he'll be back before we know it. We'll have lots of projects to work on. And Simon's gonna help us with that. Okay? Pretty soon, we are going to have a family room that we can play in for the rest of our lives.
[Laughter.]

Scene 7:
Scene: Unfinished family room.

FLAMES BEGIN.

[View of flames erupting. Photos burning and falling off of the wall. Closeup of Holden and Lily's wedding photo as flames move around it.]
