EPISODE # 10
MARCH 15, 2000 (W)

Scene 1:
Location: Cal Stricklyn's farmhouse.
Scene: Living room.

HOLDEN AND LILY ON THE PHONE.

>> Lily: You're on your way home from the airport right now?
>> Holden: That's the plan.
>> Lily: Oh. Well, Emma said that you were on your way home. Are you bringing Abigail with you?
>> Holden: Yeah, I am.
>> Lily: Oh, well, what about her trip to Saudi Arabia, was it postponed?
>> Holden: Indefinitely. She's coming back to Oakdale -- at least for now.
>> Lily: A week ago she couldn't wait to get out of here.
>> Holden: I'm sorry that I didn't clear this with you first, but if you'd seen her in New York, she was just -- she was so lost. And I don't know what would've happened to her if Bryant hadn't run into her.
>> Lily: Well, Abigail's always welcome here, honey. You know that.
>> Holden: You're the best. See you soon.
>> Lily: I'll be waiting.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: He's on his way.
>> Simon: So I gathered. That's great.
>> Lily: Yeah, that's great. Moments with my husband have been few and far between lately.
>> Simon: Hey, look, I can take a hint. But before I go, can we schedule our next sitting? Tomorrow? Maybe friday?
>> Lily: You know, until this situation is settled with Abigail, I can't make any kind of commitment.
>> Simon: Yeah, sure, but -- why should that affect our painting schedule?
>> Lily: I am really excited about this project, I really am. And I'm really happy. But until Abigail gets settled, she has to be the priority in this house, so the painting's going to have to wait.

Scene 2:
Location: Cal Stricklyn's farmhouse.
Scene: Living room.

LILY WALSH SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Lily: So, I will call you when things get settled.
>> Simon: Okay. But, look, I have to admit. I am a little disappointed.
>> Lily: Why?
>> Simon: Well, we were just getting started.
>> Lily: I know. I'll -- I will sit for you again. Maybe in a few days.
>> Simon: I know you will. But, see, it's not to be done in five-minute stints. And I'm not nagging, but there's still so much to decide on, like the appropriate hairstyle, the jewelry.
>> Lily: I know we were supposed to go through my entire collection.
>> Simon: Exactly. There's still so much to do before I even pick up a paintbrush.
>> Lily: I am anxious. I really -- I'm so anxious to get this started. And I know -- I want it to be something that Holden will really love.
>> Simon: I know. And that's why you need to make some time for it.
>> Lily: And I will, I promise. After things are settled with my family.
>> Simon: Sure. Look, there is nothing more important than family.
>> Lily: I knew you'd understand.
>> Simon: Okay, all right. But -- sorry. But your stepdaughter's arrival does pose another problem.
>> Lily: I'm afraid to ask.
>> Simon: Well, it was difficult enough keeping this a secret from your husband. But with a teenager racing around, we may never find a private moment again.
>> Lily: Abigail won't be here all the time.
>> Simon: Is she returning to school?
>> Lily: I -- I would think so, yes.
>> Simon: And after school? Is she the type to go out with friends?
>> Lily: Abigail's been through a lot. There's no telling what kind of a state she's going to be in when she gets back. That's why we need time to figure things out.
>> Simon: I know, I know, I know. And time is in rather short supply.
>> Lily: I have an idea.
>> Simon: Go ahead.
>> Lily: Okay, why not -- why don't you take some photographs of me? That way, you can refer to them when I'm not able to sit for you.
>> Simon: Yeah, well, I guess it would be something, anyway.
>> Lily: Okay. I'll just get my camera.
>> Simon: No, no, no. Wait. I have a better idea. How about I get some ideas from snaps you already have. You know, peruse the old family albums, that sort of thing.
>> Lily: Well, my grandfather's house, where you're staying, there's gotta be old family albums there. Just go look for them.
>> Simon: Great. Excellent idea. Fantastic.
>> Lily: I'm sorry that I'm not able to be more help right now.
>> Simon: No, that's fine. I'm on the case.
>> Lily: Okay.
>> Simon: Bye.

Scene 3:
SIMON FRASIER ALONE.

>> Simon: Come on, gramps, where do you keep your photo albums? You have lots of relatives, Lily. With any luck, one of them is wearing my diamond.

Scene 4:
Location: Cal Stricklyn's farmhouse.
Scene: Living room.

HOLDEN SNYDER, SIMON FRASIER, AND A SECURITY GUARD

>> Security guard: Freeze!
>> Simon: Whoa, I'm sorry. I didn't hear your knock.
>> Security guard: You know this guy?
>> Holden: Yeah, as a matter of fact, I do.
>> Security guy: Then everything's cool?
>> Holden: Yeah. Thanks for coming by.
>> Security guard: Anytime.

HOLDEN SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Holden: What are you doing in here?
>> Simon: Nothing untoward, I assure you.
>> Holden: What are you doing here in this house?
>> Simon: Lily invited me to stay for a while. She didn't tell you?
>> Holden: No, she didn't tell me. And I don't think that she would let some stranger stay at her grandfather's house.
>> Simon: I know it might seem a bit odd. Trust me, there was a perfectly good reason.
>> Holden: So, give it to me.
>> Simon: Look, perhaps it would be better coming from Lily.
>> Holden: I'll talk to Lily tonight. Right now, I want you out of here. Immediately!

Scene 5:
Location: Cal Stricklyn's farmhouse.
Scene: Living room.

HOLDEN SNYDER AND SIMON FRASIER

>> Simon: Mr. Snyder, if you don't want me staying here, I'll gladly leave.
>> Holden: Then leave.
>> Simon: But look, in all fairness, it is rather late for me to find other accommodations.
>> Holden: You shouldn't have a problem. Just break into some other place.
>> Simon: I'm sorry. As I've explained --
>> Holden: You have explained nothing! What are you up to, frasier?
[Knock on door.]
>> Holden: Expecting company?
>> Simon: No. Who is it?

LILY WALSH SNYDER ARRIVES.

>> Lily: What's going on here?
>> Holden: I found this guy crashing here and he has the nerve to claim that you invited him to stay.
